Released 40 years ago tomorrow, an album that wasn't like anything else on the AOR stations at the time. If you were sick and tired of the arena rock scene, this album was a welcome relief. In my opinion, the standouts on this album are Atomic Punk and On Fire. They aren't the well known tracks, but they were the two that made it to my mix tapes.

When I think of the early 80s, I think about the emergence of the post-hardcore scene. Nothing related to hardcore on this list at all. You would think one song would have made it, especially when you consider the name of the blog is a reference to the Pixies. Here are some notable hardcore tracks released in 1982 (not exhaustive -- only those I could think of):
Bad Brains - Pay to Cum
Bad Religion - We Are Only Gonna Die
Black Flag - TV Party
Dead Kennedys - Halloween
Dead Kennedys - Moon Over Marin
Flipper - Ever
Husker Du - All Tensed Up
Husker Du - Data Control
Mission of Burma - That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate
The Replacements - Kids Don't Follow
The Replacements - Stuck in the Middle
I also noticed To Hell With Poverty!, which is one of the favourite Gang of Four tracks ever, didn't make the list.
