All this projector talk is making me think my 65" Panny was a mistake. I am looking forward to seeing fundmark's and grimm's finished rooms.
I currently use a URC MX-880 universal remote with my setup and I am very happy with it. I am tired of the 5 remotes sitting on the cabinet at my parents place. I think the MX-880 is overkill for them. Is anyone using a Logitech or something else that is $200 or lower that they are happy with and would recommend? Thanks!

If you want feel free to pick me up one as well I can pay in hugs
I was planning on picking up those Monoprice inwall speakers for front l/r and center channel but shipping looks like it will be 100 bucks making it 300 for the 3 speakers. Anyone know of any good cheap in wall speakers?

Only if those hugs involve you stuffing $70 into my back pocket.

Any specific models? The Harmony One seems to be getting some decent reviews.

Mine are the older models I will have to check when I get home and I have the 1100 sitting in a bag waiting to get used so I don't know how well it works. They all seem to be good so far just depends what fancy features you want

I have harmony 700's and they work very well. They aren't touchscreen but for value for money you can't beat them I picked 3 of them refurbished for $70 each. If you do a google search you will find some

Harmony One is a pretty wicked remote.
That said, I have a Harmony 720. Older unit, works great so I can't complain.

FutureShop and Best Buy both said they had the logitech / harmony adapter thing in stock, both stores couldn't find it. Wasted trip
Found out Crutchfield.ca has it for cheaper anyway.

I've just installed a projector and a 110" screen. Sitting 9' away, I find watching blu ray movies just right. However, I don't enjoy watching sports (NFL and NBA) on it. It takes too much eye movement to catch the flight of the ball or player movment. I instead watch sports back on my 50" TV. Anyone with a projector feels the same way I do?

I often watch NHL and CFL on the TV in the living room just because I'm doing other stuff while keeping half an eye on the game. However if I have 2-3 hours to kill and that's all I'm doing is watching the game, I'll fire up the projector. With the seats reclined my eyeballs are probably 13' away mind you.
News/sitcoms I'll watch on the TV though. Seems easier on the eyes. There's also a reason I want to upgrade to a motorized screen with a 65" Panny behind it though

I had a hard time convincing the wife on putting the 2 smaller tvs up I think I will have a heck of a time getting a plasma for behind the projector screen. I am hoping to run an HDMI cord in the wall there just in case future me turns into a good negotiator.

I found this a humorous article. I'm limited by space for a true home theatre but still I seem to be always upgrading my equipment.
Quote:
So there you are, the proud new owner of your newly built Home Theater. The room came out like you wanted, you have all the extras, and things are just right -- you can settle down now. Humm…Nope! Let me tell you something here. You are NEVER done with your Home Theater. In fact, you just may be ill.
|
Quote:
You know how it starts, this illness of yours. It just all seems to happen so fast. You are somewhere: a store, a friend’s place, or even a workplace, and you see this wonderful setup. It can be something that is as small as a 42” flat panel with a great audio system. You just seem to get drawn in by some big audio/video vacuum. You find yourself saying, “Boy, this would be great in our home.” You soon find yourself asking lots of questions and surfing the Internet for more information on products and items for a theater. You’ll maybe start small; you’ll add surround sound to your current family room. But then you think…Why stop there? Heck, we could use a bigger flat panel. Naw…you want that new DLP projector you saw when surfing the net for more info. But that requires a screen. No problem, you think. You can just move this wall here, and build this out there, and BAM! You’re really hooked. That’s it…you will never be able to stop this madness. (Really, I have tried.)

Anybody have any solutions for my TV dilemma?
Want 2 32ish" TV's for secondary viewing and hopefully be able to use them on my harmony remote. I figured out the cable I will either set up my IR repeater or buy another harmony one and use 1 shaw gateway pvr and 1 old school shaw motorolla box so that I can control the picture independently.
I don't think is is necessary to have both on at the same time all the time so should I just buy 2 different models or will that look stupid compared to having one uniform model
