Gallagher is the one I’d most want, then Patches, then Galchenyuk.
I could see Brodie, Bennett or Ferland going the other way.

If we’re picking up a goalie, it’ll probably be Niemi.

Galchenyuk, or Gallagher would be great if the return was prospect based. Not interested in giving up Bennett or Jankowski who would be their targets.

I don't really see the point in the flames burning a bunch of top prospects to trade for another 40 point a year winger like Gallagher to replace Frolik on the 2nd line. Unless Versteeg is done for the year they already have 9 productive forwards to fill the top 3 lines.
If they can upgrade on Frolik with a more productive player for a reasonable cost and maybe pick up a cheap veteran goalie for cover I'd be happy with that.

Given what we need and the likely price involved, I hope we aren't trading with Montreal. Buffalo seems like an absolute better dance partner.

It probably wouldn't be good for the team's confidence in the goalie if he yelled out "WHERE IS IT?" everytime he made a save.

You know Galchehyuk has been rumoured to be in/out of rehab right?
Best of luck to the kid, but I would be cautious on this one.

Yeah, since when is Mike Commodore an insider? Isn't his account just a parody account?

Yeah he's 100% just having fun.
He was on SpittinChicklets joking about getting nothing right and then last year got the Lazar trade randomly last minute, so he's aiming to get 2 this year.

Here is my arm-chair deadline deal:
Brouwer for Bobby Ryan (40% retained)
Before trade
- Flames have 2 seasons @ $4.5m for Brouwer. Thats $9m in salary and cap space.
- Senators have 4 seasons @ 7.5m for Ryan. Thats $30m in salary and $29m in cap space.
Trade objective:
- Senators want to cut salary
- Flames want to upgrade RW
- Flames don't want to ruin cap structure going forward
After Trade:- Flames have 4 seasons of $4.5m = 18m salary and $17.5m in cap space
- Senators have 2 seasons of $4.5m (Brouwer) and 4 seasons of $3m (Ryan). That works out to $21m in salary, so they cut $9m cash dollars right away, and even more if they decide to buy out Brouwer.
Much like the Dion deal did for the Kings, the Ryan trade would help the flames now, and have the potential to turn out ok in the future if Ryan rebounds. For the Senators, much like the Dion deal, this trade allows them to cut $9m of salary (and even more if they decide to buy out Brouwer).
