Since early last spring I've managed to shed 16 pounds simply by eating less and exercising more. Went from 206 down to 190lbs.

Starbucks Christmas Blend coffee. I was late getting out to buy some this year and a couple of the stores were already out. Finally found a bag today, having a cup now. One of my favourite holiday treats.

I'm quite proud of the fact that our new coalition government is the first Finnish government truly run by women.

There's a majority of female ministers (12 to 7), all leaders of the coalition parties are female (5 out of 5) and for the first time both the most important seats (prime minister and minister of finances) are simultaneously held by women.

(It's a liberal-central-left coalition).

Sanna Marin will also be the first PM younger than I am. (She's younger by a decade, so not even close. Into hard rock, old school hiphop and funk, and names RATM as her favourite band.)

One day this stuff won't matter, but for now, #trailblazers

My Grandson had a hospital visit for a pump check for his new Insulin Pump. His A1C has gone down .3 since Oct 22 and he has gained 1/2 lb. and grew a couple of cms! All good news and hopefully continues on that path.

It makes me happy that there is something called the "Swedish Peoples Party of Finland"

Is that a bad translation or an ethnic voting block?

Almost every aspect of winter driving sucks balls. The one exception is during and shortly after a fresh snowfall, in a car with good winter tires and an E-brake handle. Navigating side roads and parking lots Tokyo Drift style never gets old

In Finnish it's just "Swedish people's party", so a really direct translation.

Finland has a 5% Swedish speaking minority (it's the second official language), but they're mostly not Swedish in the national sense. We generally don't think of them as a separate ethnic group, even though technically they are.

So it's mostly language voting block, but it's not a 1 for 1 match. Not all Swedish speakers vote for them, and they get votes from liberals, plus I think coastal farmers and fishermen. As a party they're strongly liberal and very flexible right wingers.

Makes me happy seeing my kids(who are teenagers) watching shows I loved as a kid. Got home and my oldest was watching Watership down.
