Default Flames vs Jets Game 1 8:30pm MT, SN/SN960

Coronavirus Shmoronavirus..

After 4 long months and a season that feels lost and forgotten, the boys are back, and every team is a "bubble" team.

The car flags are out. The jerseys are allowed to be worn at work. The playoff rituals are back in a very bizarre month - August.

With last year's playoff setback still fresh on everyone's minds, the Flames have a tall task against arguably the league's best goaltender. If the boys play a consistent sixty minutes, and truly perform as if they are "sick of losing in first rounds" then the series could be ours. It starts tonight. Game 1 against a Jets squad we know next to nothing about this season. Yet another bizarre circumstance.

Below, I will post a gameworn jersey of the last beauty to score a series winner for us. The last #18 who wore the number with integrity, and the only players of the 2010s to score a series winner for the Calgary Flames. May a new player have that honour this round.

Navras! Puppets! Frogs! Turtles! Go Flames Go! Let's get those 2 HUGE FRICKING POINTS BOYS

Getting out the door to buy hockey Snarf food.

Trying to remember what Mike Richards used to ask Kipper about game day rituals and what he eat before the game.

Just over 13 hours until the game that matters starts .

Predicting another slow start .....and then BOOM ....Flames win.

This game is starting just as a Hurricane may possibly hit land nearby. All while still enduring crazy local case counts in a global pandemic.

All I'm saying is that the universe owes me something right now. A Flames win will suffice.

I had a dream that with under a minute remaining in the first, Johnny had a spectacular sequence of events one after the other and through a solo effort, put the Flames up 1-0 to end the period.

The puck was cleared out about waist high out of the Jets zone with no forecheckers bearing down (as both teams were headed to the bench for one final change) and Johnny, out of some otherworldly hockey sense, bats the puck down midair right at the blue line.

There's two defenders back still, with one already on him. So he fakes a backhand dump in like he wants to float it in, get off and change just like the rest of his line. He "ghosts" it, basically putting all his weight behind it and following through, but the puck never left the ice.

He uses the remaining dman as a screen and snaps one in short side and then I woke up with the goal horn fresh in my ears.

Guessing we see Talbot get the start.

Hoping we see playoff Sam Bennett.

Thinking we see purple Gatorade.

Anticipating we see a better start compared to Tuesday.

Expecting we see a Flames win! GFG!

Flames have a lot of people to prove wrong, including many of their fans. Most have written them off, it seems. Hopefully provides motivation.

Must start fast and build confidence. Playing from behind perpetually will kill them.

Was just visiting with my Jets fan buddy, he seemed somehow even less confident than me. But one thing he said was that the Jets always have the belief that they can come back and win a game, even if they are down by four goals it’s not over. Something to be wary of. Or, as CP says, weary of.

Go Flames! Get a lead and keep it!

Nice Puppet Guy,

I had this theme in my head of our hero being King Kong and plucking Jets out of the sky.

Flames have become a total after thought in NHL circles.

We'll see a slew of higher seed teams win today, but not in this game. 5-2 Flames.
