Flames outplayed them and were more physical. But not going to win anything with goaltending like that.

Oilers save %age .973
Flames save %age .867

Maybe I watched a different game but the Oilers were by far the superior team. Didn't give up many if any odd man rushes, few defensive miscues and timely goaltending. Flames were sloppy defensively, didn't generate enough high end scoring chances, and Rittich couldn't make a save when called on. I have zero faith in Rittich at this stage. Talbot would have to be pretty bad for me to consider putting him in the pipes for games that count. Fortunately this game means nothing and hopefully it's a wakeup call for the teams top players that weren't very good tonight.

Hmm, okay well, exhibition.

At least we have 82 games to get playoff ready right?

Jankowski is not an NHL caliber player.

McDavid is... ridiculous.
So you’re saying if the Flames scored a few more and the Oilers scored a few less, we would have won.

I agree.

Too bad the Flames instead made the Oilers goalies look like world beaters while letting in softies.

Honestly after watching that game the only player I hope is a guarantee to not play come Saturday is Jankowski.

I think the rest of our guys, we are unsure about, can show more than they did tonight.

Oilers are a Tippett team. If you fall behind the shut the door down and give nothing for chances. I’m glad we aren’t playing them in the playoffs but I wouldn’t be afraid if em.

Flames need to improve their goaltending for next season if they actually want to improve. 6 years and Tree still hasn’t solved the goalie problem - and this...November, there will be plenty of options. He has to fix it.

Throw money and Hall and Lehner, make it work.

yeah you didn't watch the same game...Flames had 2 on 1s and a break away

Oilers scored on a couple broken plays/bounces. They did get the better goal tending I will give you that

Oilers gave up 37 shots...far superior?

I'm not sure why people are jumping on Rittich. The first goal was an absurd bounce on a flip-in play that took a hard left turn on him and no one picked up the guy going to the net. That's just unfortunate. The second goal was McDavid in all by himself, in which "goal" is not a surprising outcome.

Anyway, all in all, I thought the presentation on all the games today was great. I barely noticed the lack of fans. Just seemed like watching hockey, for the most part. I suppose the fact that no one's talking about it and everyone's just focused on how the game went is a good sign in that regard.

I don't know much about this Cuthbert guy, but I didn't notice anything resembling legend status tonight. I guess I need to further educate myself

Moving here since it seems to fit the PGT more.

Not too worried about the result, more focused on individual performances. .

Gaudreau looked quick and illusive which is good because he didn’t look like that most of last season.

Monahan looked strong and gave a lot of effort, dominated the face off dot.

Mangiapane gives 100% every shift, Tkachuk/Backlund looked okay but didn’t seem to be trying as hard as possible.

Bennett and Dube have great chemistry and the team needs to harness that and figure out a better balance in the bottom 6.

Thought Brodie, Gio, and Andersson looked good. Hanifin struggled a bit. Forbort and Gus looked alright.

Biggest concern is goaltending. Talbot struggled in the first and was fighting routine shots giving up big rebounds. Rittich looked calm and poised...until the bit of lazy play on a weird bounce and then his confidence was shaken.

Both teams were sloppy at time’s and it looked like the first game in 4 months. Overall the goaltending battle remains my biggest concern going into the weekend.

Flames had plenty of chances they just didn't bury them

Bye bye Jankowski. I want Dube and Bennett together. I'd like Forbort to sub out for Kylington.

Janokowski’s performance makes me wonder what he has been doing with himself for the last 4 months. Looked slower and weaker if that is even possible. The “breakaway” was absolutely pathetic.
