Until Popeyes opened, it was the only place I'd go for chicken. I find KFC in Lethbridge way too greasy. That said, I'd be just as likely to order wings from Legendary Wing King as I would order from Mary Browns.
Speaking of Wing King, I haven't had their chicken sandwich in years, but I recall it being pretty good.

If anyone is curious, I had the crispy chicken at Little Empire and it was...ok. I think they were trying to go for the Popeyes Chicken sandwich type of thing with the fried chicken with mayo and a pickle, but it fell a little flat. The chicken breading was more akin to schnitzel/nugget breading, so not the really crispy skin I was hoping for.
Burgers were good though.

i sometimes feel like mary browns is close t the old KFC when they used the real grease
i love pickles on a hamburger and i never thought of needing them in a chicken sandwich; however, after sampling popeye's option i see how wrong i was. pickles really kick it up a couple of notches.
i thought it was a solid offering

I can't speak to the other places, but Claresholm was definitely Chester's.

Do you know what time period this was?
Just looking at the Fritou website, they didn't enter Western Canada until 2002:

Does anybody else find Cluck’n’Cleaver seasoning to be too much? Garlic and salt seemed heavy.

OK from someone that hasn't tried Popeyes or Chick-fil-A - what is the difference between this new generation of "chicken sandwiches" and the McChicken? Pure breast meat vs the McChicken composite?

Yeah quality of the meat. Less processed.
The one not being talked about here enough is the Chicken Stack from Shake Shack. I realize that it's not available in Calgary, but I would rank it #1 ahead of Popeyes, Mary Brown, and Chick Fil A.

Yeah, now that Korean chicken places are all over the city, I can’t think of why I’d ever go back to regular American-style chicken. Korean chicken is superior in every way. Ogam is easily the best fried chicken I’ve had outside a pricey sit-down restaurant.

Hold up, what is the pricey sit down restaurant fried chicken that beats Korean?

Except for seasoning. If you don't get the sauced up versions, there's basically no seasoning on Korean fried chicken. It's its major flaw.

The spicy sauce at Wow Chicken is so fricking good that I'd never get it any other way.

I like Korean Chicken, but it's not the same dish as regular fried chicken. Two entirely separate dishes IMO. Korean fried chicken has totally different batter, uses a lot of sesame, uses smaller pieces, uses cartilage, etc...
You can buy Italian style noodles and Asian style noodles, that doesn't make them the same dish.

Actually, Ogam is the only place that even has a decent sit down area.

KFC's Famous Chicken Sandwich was okay. I like the Big Crunch better. Actually, I like DQ's Crispy Chicken Sandwich better. I'll hit Popeye's up next week.

Yeah, but seasoning is pretty universal to food and Korean Fried chicken doesn't have it. I'm not suggesting it needs 11 herbs and spices. Lets just start with salt.
