LF: Basement Renovation Contractor
So I am sick of working in an unfinished basement and I am looking to get it finished right away.
I am hoping to get some referrals from CP folks on some recommended contractors in Calgary for this work. Nothing crazy, utility room, rec room and a bathroom.

I had mine done by Affordable Basements. They weren't the cheapest quote but they did a really good job. BTW getting your basement done is a game changer and you will absolutely love when its finished

Basement Builders is good. And when I say good I mean one of the best out there, and charges accordingly lol
Ask for Don if you need a quote. He's one of the most honest people I have ever met.

Just bumping this thread to see if there are any other recommendations, I have booked a few visits but when the contractors can't show up on time or forget to write down that they were due to come meet you it does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about their ability to manage the job...

After getting 6 quotes we selected Basement Builders. Don is solid so far. They start on Monday so now the mad scramble to clear out the basement begins...

Not to hijack the thread, but what should someone budget for a no frills basement dev? I am thinking two rooms, one bath, maybe a wet bar.

This is my best friend's oldest brother's company. The quality of their work is crazy high.

I got mine developed last year and I think it was around $28K for a very basic development, which obviously increases with anything extra like a wet bar, bathroom, etc

Mine is a similar development. I am getting a bathroom, a rec room with a wet bar and a mechanical room. I have heated tile in the bathroom and am putting in a stand-up shower rather than a tub. The wet bar is just shy of 7'. The basement isn't huge, I think it works out to about 600 sq ft.
Of the six quotes I got, one came in at 25k, one at 54k and the other 4 were within 40-43k. The wet bar probably adds about 7k from what I have seen.
Basement builders have been fantastic to deal with so far, their change management process is quite detailed which like.

I would for sure have used Basement builders, but I ended up selling my house. They had that really cool spreadsheet that showed all the virtual renos, pricing, selection etc that I found really helpful. You knew EXACTLY what you were getting.

About how long did these basement projects take from first contact, to start construction, to finish?
