Under Gully? If hes being underutilized now Ol' Glen is just going to say:

Gaudreau, Ferland, Monahan, Tkachuk, Hamilton, Hathaway are all guys on pace to smashing their career year totals and or already have, Backlund had his highest consideration ever for the Selke under Gulutzan, Smith has been all world for this time under GG, Gaudreau/Monahan this year have been nothing short of spectacular for this club and the fact that we complain about players like that sometimes ~ and Im saying you do Locke; I just am meaning in general at CP when you see guys like Gaudreau or Monahan get complained about ~ its shocking to me.

Sure guys like Brouwer, Bennett and Brodie have struggled under Gulutzan but every coach has players like these that they have to coach a different way or never seem to be able to get what they should out of them but Gulutzan has had many stellar personal performance years out of a good majority of the players on this team and he should be at least somewhat recognized for this looking past his foibles.

I get some of the dislike for GG at times; I've been there with many when he has frustrated us with decisions but this notion that players don't excel under Gully seems a little unfair to the guy at this point.

I realize it was my suggestion for Bobby Ryan that spurred all of this and I hate to derail a topic but after seeing so much negativity about GG; admittedly from myself at times, I had to step up and recognize some of the success from GG too and there are definitely some.

Is it that he's being underutilized or is it a systems thing? I don't get how hard he's fallen. Did he forget how to play hockey? Probably not. Has he gone the Heatley route where he just can't keep up anymore? Dunno.

Not if TB adds Karlsson.

Wow. Vegas is likely getting an asset to retain salary on Brassard.

Wait is it Ottawa or Pittsburgh sending the asset? I thought it was Ottawa because melnyk and company were refusing to retain salary

My guess is Vegas is the team that gets Cole in exchange for retaining the salary.

McKenzie said layers of salary retention, so that would imply both Ottawa and Vegas would be retaining.

For example Ottawa can retain x% up to a maximum of 50%, then Vegas can retain y% up to a maximum of 50% on whatever is left after Ottawa retains.

Not clear who is giving up the asset yet to Vegas.

That doesn't seem very inspiring if I'm a Sens fan TBH. Especially since if they make all these deals they probably wont be very good next year, and still owe Colorado that pick (could be Jack Hughes for all we know).
If I were a Sens fan, I'd be worried sick about what the return might be in a Karlsson trade...

No. Kypreos just tweeted it. But he's very connected.

I think he's more in the know than Bob MacKenzie now.

C'mon NHL let us have our fun.

My guess is both teams are trying to retain salary on a player in a 3 way trade but you can't do that since Brassard is never officially a member of the Knights in a 3 way deal.

So they will have to figure out a way to split it into multiple deals likely.

Something like

Brassard to Vegas for a conditional 1st round pick (condition being Vegas gets to pick any first rounder to give to Ottawa)

Then it goes Brassard to Pittsburgh for a 1st and Cole and maybe something else depending on what the exchange was for salary retention. (This first goes to Ottawa as per the conditions of the trade)

Then Pittsburgh sends the goalie prospect to Ottawa for future considerations or a 7th rounder or something.
