Yeah, HOFer written all over him..

Those two 2nds Holland traded for Andreas Athanasiou are going to look even better when they don't qualify him to make up for the stagnant covid cap.
One goal one assist in 13 haha-not-the-playoff points.

I hope that Holland feels obliged to re-sign him to a big contract after giving up two 2nds for him. I think he is a good bottom six player, but that his 30 goal season a couple of seasons ago was a fluke. I can see Holland offering him top 6 money, if by some miracle he found the cap space to do it.
Although, it will be just as funny when Detroit just signs him after Edmonton doesn't qualify him.

The Oilers will have $10 million cap space with 17 players signed? So they need at least 3 more, including a goalie, with that money? That doesn't leave them a lot of room, does it?

they need 6 more (though they could run with only 22 for a while if they wanted)

best part is how some fans talk about 'must signing' Pietrangelo and someone like Lehner... or a Taylor Hall...not sure they know how the cap works...

They must think players will take massive paycuts for the chance to play with Lord Connor.

And they think Kassian and Neal will both be traded.

So...
Edmonton traded Jordan Eberle for Ryan Strome.
Then they traded Strome for Ryan Spooner.
- Mr. "Can't do anything in the Playoffs" Eberle finished with 40 points in 58 games and now has 13 points in 13 Playoff games with the NYI
- Strome finished with 59 points in 70 games
- Both were possession monsters
Meanwhile, Spooner is now overseas.
Ouch.

I might be mistaken, but the cap estimate is based on this yearr cap, and only get adjusted once the new cap is approved. So it might go up a little ( unless it was already approved).

Next year's cap will remain the same as this year's. That's part of the CBA extension.

How is the cap going to go up at all based on this season, they've lost 10 games of gate revenue per team per regular season, plus all of the playoff gates, I don't know how things like Escrow works, but I would expect the cap to either stay the same, or the league goes to the union and tells them that its going to do a temporary rollback.

As much as I want Hall here, he could literally sign a deal to solidify a HHOF spot.

There are much more knowledgeable people than me, but I think what players eventually get paid is based on league revenues, so even if the cap stays the same, it won't necessarily result in the same amount of money for them if revenues drop. Some of the money in escrow will go back to the teams.
I think, but I am probably wrong. I could just wait for a smart person to tell you, but I am that bored today.

They are also brimming with confidence. Jason Strudwick is ok and Rob Brown on CHED has a tough job, all the rest sold their soul.

Well there's the downside of the Oilers being out. The OOT didn't feel quite the same without them being somebody's punching bag.
