If the flames keep up their pt% rate since the cold start and finish around the 14th selection range which it looks like they may as well take the kid. It will be appropriate for their drafting position and you have the added storylines that will keep people showing up and watching through the rebuild.

It's looking like destiny.

I dunno. I have a feeling that he is going top 12.

So hard... you don't want Markstrom to suck in order to maximize trade value, but you also want to pick in a spot that gives you a crack at one of the good crop of d-men, a top C or Iggy Jr.

It was better when Marky was out for maintenance.

Tij awarded 'first team all-star' status by whl

Quote:
Hey now, you’re an all-star: Iginla, Cristall and Price receive WHL honours

As the Kelowna Rockets and 15 other WHL clubs get ready for the playoffs, the league revealed its year-end all-star teams today.

The WHL unveiled first and second all-star teams for all four divisions and a trio of Kelowna Rockets received the nod in the BC Division.
Tij Iginla was the only one of the three to earn first all-star team honours, following his breakout season that saw the 17-year-old Lake Country product notch 47 goals in 62 games.

I am starting to think there's a real chance he's picked before we go up.

I think there is a good chance the Flames don't pick him under the advice of his dad. The Same reason he didn't play for the hitmen.

I'll be pretty cheezed if they don't get him. And I think there's a very good chance he'll be the BPA at their spot.

Would be interesting inside the Iginla household and inside the Flames management group.

Will Tij have a worse career in Calgary with all the pressure? Better?
Will that mean the Flames get less of a player than they should?
Is he better off getting selected by say Jersey and forging his own history?

Everyone loses if it's more pressure in Calgary and with that he becomes less of a player.

Will be interesting to watch this play out.

Certainly looks like they will have the draft position to make the call themselves.

I he is like his dad, he will thrive under the pressure.

Seeing all the Josh and Shane Doan stuff with his 2 goal first NHL game, makes me certain that we need Tij!!

Thank god the Oilers don't have a 1st round pick, or anything of value to get them a first round pick. They would for sure take Iginla.

I feel that center is much more of an organization need than winger as if they take Tij, who's going to center all these young wingers in the coming seasons? Honzek is really all they have in the pipeline that projects to centering a 2nd or maybe 1st line. If Lindstrom or Catton are available by chance where the Flames pick I just don't see how they could take Iginla over one of them.

It's an entertainment business. Don't over think it.

I didn't see nearly as many Iginla jerseys or fans in the dome in the young guns days as I did post 2004. Fans fill the arena and buy more merchandise for a winner.

Well he also wasn't the best goal scorer in the entire NHL during the young guns era either. weird correlation you're trying to draw.

He peaked 2002-2008

Still got to go with BPA. I prefer a center but if they feel like Iginla is the best chance at a top line player they will be picking high over the next two years as well.

Pick Tij and draft McKenna in a few years. Maybe another C next year as well. I feel like we'll regret not picking Iginla.
