'We shouldn't let this distract us from issues I'd probably vote against fixing, anyway.' - Sean Chu.

Shane Keating spent years lobbing hard for it to go south first, and got it. I think that's one of the primary reasons, council eventually folded over. Without anyone in the north pushing back(a lot of this is on Chu), it kinda just evolved that way.

But yes, they could build the people mover just to the blue line. I suspect that would actually be a longer trip to downtown than just taking the 300 though, given the transfer and longer route that takes you away from downtown before heading south. It's a 29 minute LRT trip, not including the people mover section, which would be about 10 minutes, I'd guess. The 300 is listed at 35 minutes to downtown. So it's actually a worse option.

Could he be convinced to take the C-Train to work every day? Those things are killer.

It doesn't go anywhere near where he lives*. If only his councilor wasn't completely useless, there would probably be plans to build one.

* I don't know where he lives. I'm just assuming it's in his own ward.

Like seriously, I understand why people want the train near them to commute, but I also think that the train coming too close to you is a drawback. I lived near the train (about 5-8 minutes walk), and it was too close. Sure, going to a Flames game was great because it was relatively convenient. But it also “imported” a lot of issues into the neighbourhood.

I was only mentioning it because they have a remarkably consistent habit of hitting people.

I’m not convinced an APP is a good idea bit IIRC the logic is that a younger population such as Alberta has would indeed be able to deliver both. More workers (fewer retirees) means it’s possible, in theory. And the short term.

This will change with the RouteAhead update coming to committee and council next month.

Farkas said Chu’s position on council is now untenable, in his opinion, and he is calling on the province to take action to remove him from office.

“Premier (Danielle) Smith and (Municipal Affairs Minister Rebecca) Schultz, they have to act now to remove him or else be complicit enablers,” said Farkas. “They have legal oversight of this council and its councillors, and they have to do something.”
Pincott with a sturdy uppercut as well:

Quote:
Pincott said he feels the action taken in October to put Chu back to work on city committees and boards after a year of censure is not what he would have done.

“Honestly, it’s not like he really contributes at committee anyway,” said Pincott. “And that is a disparaging thing to say, but that’s my experience.”
