Trajectory. I would rather hear that Florida sold high on him than low.

Yeah - since then he had a great draft year, made the Swedish WJC team, and followed it up with a pretty good rookie season in the SHL getting better as the year went on.
Sounds like the perfect late bloomer to me
Also the whole selling high thing is a funny statement.
This isn’t a 6th round pick that had one good year post draft that saw his value shoot up. Florida just bought high on him not even 8 months ago when they used a 2nd round pick to get him in what was a deep draft.

'sold high' is pretty bold, considering he continues to progress and accelerate
it seems to me that 'trending' is a more applicable term than 'sold high'
but we shall see

He finally speaks

Quote:
“That’s my goal — to develop as a player to be able to put that jersey on and hopefully a lot of seasons in Calgary,” Heineman said.

Quote:
“I just felt like it suits me playing in Canada,” Heineman said. “I’ve been there two times when I was smaller and I love being there. I didn’t feel, like, connected to Florida or anything, because I hadn’t been there at all. So I felt like this is a fresh start. And there are a couple of Swedes there too, so I was all positive.”

A description of Heineman's playing style courtesy of Sandman, originally posted in the Back Burner forum (thanks Sandman, great post):
Quote:
In his draft year in the J20 League, he scored 26 goals in 29 games, a dominant performance. In the last 20 years, only Anze Kopitar (with 28) has scored more in his draft season. He's playing in the SHL now, where players his age (20) don't play a lot, but he's still second in his age group in goals (8)-so as the numbers indicate, he's much more goal-scorer than playmaker. In the draft, many pundits predicted he would go in the 3rd/4th round, but many teams liked his game-Flames were after him, but Florida got there first.
Heineman plays a pretty rambunctious game-he's gritty and physical, has a good motor, and plays a good 200-ft game. Real puck hound. He's got excellent straight-line speed, albeit not elite. Nice size, at 6'1".

LOL. And just after I said I’d be surprised to ever see him in a Flames jersey.
