Default Tell me about Emil Heineman

Curious if anyone has any insight surrounding our newest Flame?

The only thing I know about him is that he's...

19 years old
left shooting Right Wing
6 foot 1
2nd round (43rd overall) in 2020

I read where he was described as "Tkachuk lite" on HF.

Here was our view on him. This is leading into the 2020 draft (had him ranked No. 95). We haven't charted him since, as we focus on draft eligibles. Typically kept behind paywall, but we'll leave it unlocked for a good chunk of time here:

Quote:
He is a good skater with decent first steps and good acceleration, which gives him a high-top speed. He also has good agility and can change direction quickly. He maintains his speed and often gets through the defense paired with his puck handling as a great weapon. Heineman is a great passer and often sets up his teammates with dangerous chances.

My posts about Heineman:

Friedman said on today's 31 Thoughts:

"A couple people texted me after about that prospect. There's a couple teams that really liked him as a player, they say he's going to be a middle-6 guy who's going to kill some penalties and drive people crazy."

Posted this on the trade thread:

I dug up Scott Wheeler’s assessment on the Panther’s top prospects for 2021. Heineman was listed 16th, description below:

Quote:
16. Emil Heineman, LW, 19 (Leksands IF)

It has been a bit of a transitional year for Heineman, who showed last season that he was ready to graduate out of Sweden’s top junior league but isn’t dynamic enough to have an immediate impact in the SHL. The good news is that in the interim while he tries to work his way into a scoring role at the pro level, he plays with enough hustle to succeed in a depth role by winning races, disrupting opposing carriers on the forecheck, and intercepting passes. He’s got a pitchfork skating stride that he’ll need to correct (though he’s actually quite quick on his edges) to elevate his game offensively at the pro level. There are some legitimate pro qualities to his game, though.

He’s a great one-touch and two-touch shooter, he protects the puck well to attack the interior, and I often argued last year that his playmaking flew a under the radar because of all of the focus on his high goal totals (I’ve seen him execute some really creative passes).

Reminds me of when the Flames drafted the Swedish Wendal Clark. I hope it turns out differently.

I see him as a Michael Frolik type player with a slightly better shot and better passing abilities. I think he's at least a bottom 6 winger with some upside of being a 2nd liner.

He is a Bobby Haglin scouted player. He really wanted Emil in the 2nd round according to Conroy interview on the FAN.

If he can be a Swedish version of Ville Niemenan I'll take that all day long.
