Default Tell me about... chicken wings

Got a craving for chicken wings. To this day the one thing that gets me to salivate like Pavlov's dog are hot wings that my dad used to make. Did a quick search in the Popeyes thread but came up empty -- thought I'd start a new thread instead.

Looking for recommendations -- ideally a place that gives you good bang for your buck. Only caveat is that dining in isn't an option right now, so it'll have to be take out (or potentially cook at home).

General discussion is welcome as well

I love Buffalo wings, but discovered deep fried chicken wings are one of the most fattening things you can eat. One Buffalo wing is about 150 calories. A dozen is a whopping 1800 calories.

I love the occasional wing night with my buddies but I make grilled wings at home quite a bit and I enjoy those more than deep fried wings now.

They aren't the best out there, but I enjoy the chicken wings from Little Caesar's.

I bake mine now. I use Kenji's method that makes them crispy in a convection oven (air fryer).

I make my own buffalo sauce so I can cut down on the butter a bit.

Yup just roast them in the oven, still delicious. Or if you're extra lazy like me get an air fryer

Imo,

Best bang for your buck: Juliet’s castle. 45 cent wings on certain nights

Best wings: Home and Away on half price Tuesday

Shameless admission: I miss Hooters and their breaded BBQ Wings

Air fried wings are every bit as tasty and "crispy" as deep fried.

Game changer and they dont take more that about 12-15 minutes.

As for best wings at restaurants?

Still havent found anything that matches Mugshotz for quality or variety.

Which is why they're delicious.

I've stepped up my game because if I'm going to die of a heart attack I may as well do it properly.

Sous vide chicken thighs, then smoke, then deep fry.

I'm sure I could do the same thing with wings. But ain't nobody got time for the bones.

Also, cured smoked turkey wings/drums are equally as delicious.

In college we habitually ate 60 at a time.... The wings were small and cheap but still.

Gotta love the “the best wings are the ones I cook at home” crowd over taking this thread

If the OP is looking for tips to cook his own, he’d ask for it. He’s looking for the best restaurant for them

But I'm sorry we offended you by discussing chicken wings in a chicken wing thread

Hmm... the air fryer option sounds intriguing. Mine’s pretty small though so I’d probably have to make a few batches.

I added the “cook at home” option because we sometimes grab a tray from Costco and throw them in the oven. But yeah, if anyone has any takeout recommendations, I’m all ears. Will have to give Mug Shotz a try one of these days.

I like how the answer to how to cook anything best is I just do what Kenji does.

Air fryers are just compact convection ovens. I have a Breville oven that can do air frying, and about a million other things. I use it almost every day.
