Tkachuk is nowhere near untouchable.

Yeah, could very well be. I think he has a unique skillset. He's not a franchise player to me, but a good guy to have on your first line as your second option. Because of his unique traits I deem him pretty close to untouchable.

Not for 9M not even damn close. If someone offers something stupid you move him.

Yeah, fully agreed, and that's entirely possible considering he's the team's biggest asset.

Tkachuk has been quiet AF over the last month.
A couple deflected shots doesn't change how mouse-like he's been.
Doesn't look like a guy playing for his big long term deal.

Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha seem to have stagnated in Detroit.
I wonder if any sort of change of scenery trade can be made there?

That would be very interesting, but you have to think that Detroit is looking for high-end futures.

I was thinking more like something around Monahan, Hanifin for Larkin, Mantha for example.
The value there can't be that far off IMO. Flames maybe add a prospect?

In a hockey deal, sure. But why would the Wings make that deal at this stage of their development?

They just named Larkin their Captain at the start of this season. That guy won’t go anywhere.
Mantha is in that middle tier of player that our team has been built, so I’d definitely pass (especially when you consider that he’s known for an inconsistent work ethic)

In the Flames case I think that is already too high without adding a prospect. I agree that the value is close, but I wonder if Yzerman wouldn't prefer high end draft capital and blue-chp prospects.

Like I said, both players have stagnated this season, it's a change of scenery type of deal for some struggling players on a pair of struggling teams.

Brett Connelly sent down on waivers to the taxi squad in Florida. Natural RW, with two more years on his contract after this one at 3.5M.
Florida is weak at centre. Package of Doc and Simon, if Ryan is well enough to pass a physical?

I really feel like we should evaluate Tkachuk after the coach is gone.
Everybody on the team except Lucic is looking like they've never played hockey before.

Right about the time the team seemed to have intervetioned him about his style of play....

Honesty, the only reason this team is THIS bad is poor communication. That’s at all levels. When players play that bad they’re sending a message to upper management that they are annoyed at something. Treliving can thumb his nose and say it’s up to his coach to figure it out but that speaks to #### communication. Someone needs to sit with the players and find out what’s really on their mind without prejudice, then come up with a game plan how to move forward. Not the old school chain of command bs. This isn’t the army. Something is obviously not working from the players’ ends.

Tkachuk is effective when he is sewing chaos. Seeing as the coaching staff neutered him as they have done to the offense is anyone shocked?

I would take a flyer on connolly if the cats will take on Ryan and one of the nobodies.
Hanifin is a piece I think we should look at moving in the near future. See what the best high potential forward you could get for him is. Then dangle one of Dube or Mangi for a high profile RD with potential.
FWIW I dont think theres any chance Detroit moves Larkin. He's still young, was just named Captain, and is from suburban Detroit. His contract is not expensive. No chance he ever asks to be moved, and no chance he is ever traded.

I've wanted to move Hanifin for a while now for a top 6 forward.
He's a decent young Dman, but IMO he's never going to reach the heights once expected of him as a top 5 pick, so I'd dangle him to see if anyone else thinks highly enough of him to give us a similarly aged top 6 forward back.
Maybe Mantha?
Could use that size and goal scoring ability, although Mantha just adds another inconsistent questionably motivated forward to the mix so while it's not guaranteed to work out great or anything, it's a potential shake up that might spark some more offense.
As for team needs, the wings have good young Dmen, but they are RHD mostly IIRC, while the Flames have plenty of NHL caliber LHD.
