The entire spine of the team is not out. That is false. They have a lower back injury.
Missing your top three central defenders and two of your top three central mids is definitely missing most of your spine.

At this point we need to be doing a better job of adjusting though. Either play deeper and protect the defence, or go back to playing high and try to out score opponents. At the moment we are half dropping back and we’re effectively neutering the attack and still not protecting the back.

Well you guys need help on the back and we could use some help scoring goals. So how about if we send you Mourinho and you send us Klopp? I think everyone is happy with that?

That's not entirely true. You can't dismiss the effect that other teams injuries has on them also.

I'd be more than happy if the top 4 stayed like that.

Bale shows signs on Thursday for the first time in months, doesnt start today, comes on and does more in 6 minutes than the rest of the squad has in 60

Why didn't he start?

The result was terrible and at the same time just awful enough that Jose keeps his job.

West Ham was a joke, as usual, and basically sheer luck gives them the win.

Really glad I made the effort to get out of bed for that.

I actually feel more positive now than before the game for going forward

I may be setting myself up for heartbreak, but I think missing that fa cup game vs Everton was a real turning point for bale, I'm thinking hes back

His teammates do too I think, I'd have to check the stats, but they were looking for him that whole 2nd half

Bale definitely looked good (and did in Austria this week, but that’s hardly a good measuring stick). The back line is abysmal though, and it’s distressing that a manager we pay £15m a year can’t see that Dier and Sanchez is a recipe for disaster.

at least we know it's not Joses fault. Second to none!

Finishing behind the hissers won’t go over well for most Tottenham fans. They are nearly out of reach at this point

The back line is atrocious and now i understand why Spurs were keeping 6 back at the beginning of the season. I think Bale has earned more starts - he could look good as a number 10

I have to cheer for a Tottenham team with Jose as coach and a Flames team with Geoff Ward as coach.

Sometimes I wish Covid just kept the leagues closed down for this season.

Well I don't know. I look at the players and while there are some shortcomings, the reality is on paper that is a good squad. With attacking players of Kane/Son/Bale/Lamela/Alli/Moura/Vinicius it's pretty hard to see many concerns there. You should be able to string together an attack with that.

The midfield of Ndombele/Hojbjerg/Lo Celso/Winks/Sissoko (I know I've put Ndombele and Lo Celso here, and maybe they should be in that attacking group), but again this isn't that dire.

Then the back line players, including wingers of Reguilon/Davies/Dier/Alderweireld/Sanchez/Aurier/Doherty/Tanganga/Rodon is't bad either. How it's so disorganized shambolic at times is honestly beyond me!

Obviously having Lloris behind all of that should be stable and he's definitely made some unreal saves for us this season (and of course some costly errors, but no game rests entirely on him that I can think of).

So...I don't know. I feel like with a better manager we are sitting quite a bit higher in the table. I don't know if it's the idea that players are terrified to be caught out of position because that means no game time for weeks on end, or just a plain old pathetic setup? Regardless though, things aren't working and it's hard to pin that on the players when you look down that roster.

Honestly, when I bailed on the Flames game last night and decided to wake up at 5am for this today, I knew what was coming. My teams just suck over the past month in general.

We're eight minutes in and Man City could easily be 3-0 up. Men against boys and all that.

Lingard & de Gea start. Let’s just spot the Maggie’s an early couple, shall we.
