I'd say about half the league or more could clear waivers. IMO the only iron clad slam dunks on Flames roster that wouldn't clear:

Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Lindholm
Monahan
Mangiapane
Dube
Valimaki
Hanifin
Rasmus

That's not meant to be an indictment of the team's contract situation so much as a reality of the league. But I think it's helpful to think about when considering trade value. A lot of the other players have value, like Markstrom, but you have to take a contract back.

Actually for all the consternation about Bennett, he probably gets claimed because of his expiring contract.

Oilers ect. would be clearing cap and contracts like madmen if Markstrom was on waivers.
