With the ability to have club practices now, this should allow us to have more structure and understanding of where we should be, and what plays we can develop or react on defence.

I don't think we need to have the most skilled players in order to be a team that can be top ranking competitive and challenge clubs of all skill levels. If we all play as a unit and play smartly, we can be a successful team. It's what make top ranking clubs successful in the first place, because it's easier to play your best when you know what to expect and where your teammates should be, rather than to play free flow and purely react to what your teammates are doing.

With that said, we should discuss play design and player positioning for offense, defense, forecheck, and breakout situations. What type of team play style are we going to be? I've set up some gifs below that you guys can use to make illustrations of your play designs.

Full Rink

Attack Zone

Defence Zone

Neutral Zone

This will help us have a reference point that we can test out in practice. And if we approve of the play, we can enforce it in game. Hopefully this can make us have our best EASHL year yet.

You should make one for the neutral zone.

With hitting supposedly being a crucial part of the game again, *Puts on Regehr mask* I am going to be playing a much more physical game. Part of that is going to be stepping up at the redline/blueline. The forward coming back is going to have to play a little more sound positionally if we're going to avoid odd man rushes. After last year, I'm still holding my breath about how useful checking actually will be, but if it is, I'm going to be doing lots of it.

Same with plays exiting the offensive zone. Look for me to be lowering my hip into unsuspecting opponents trying an NHL 10 breakout.

As far as offense, I don't think we should aim to be a team that creates it off the rush. I think dumping it in and working it along the boards is the way to go. Shots from the point, traffic etc.

*takes off mask*

I don't mind being a grinding winger, either. In fact, I quite like it.

I have been scoring many goals in the demo off deflections, so I agree.

while talking strategy can't hurt, i still think its not very helpful. theres lots of people on the team that just want to get on and have a good time.

like i always say, we are constantly in a struggle between fun loving open invitation fatas and any sort of strategy and competitiveness.

additionally since we have a lot of variety in players, its hard to consistently play the same position and to be able to trust teammates.

So is it actually 6 humans vs 6 humans or 6 humans vs the cpu? Or can it be both? They weren't very clear in the details.

Good. It shouldn't be that bad coordinating games then, especially now that they have in game score/time data.

Regarding Jobo's comments on system, I love it. Looking forward to actually developing our team. Theres alot of skill and even our lesser skill guys are pretty darn good and a solid system should shore up the problem areas.

So... whens practice?

Like Dobbs and Stalk, I too have moved and during the real NHL season will be 3-5 hours ahead (3 now, 5 in December) so that may make playing games tough but if we play a little earlier than we used to I'll be fine. No matter, i'll find time.

I'm not going to pay the $200 Amazon wants me to pay for the game thanks to import taxes and shipping, so my family will mail my Forecaster and the game to me here in Brazil. I'll have it a few weeks after you.
