This guy has a pretty sober account of what went down:

But you know, continue with your narrative or whatever.

So instead of just rich kids it is also people who make poor life decisions ("I met a boy, HERE BY HIMSELF, who literally told me that this trip bankrupt him. And he paid bottom tier GA just like me. Absolutely sad."). I can still laugh at that.

Anyone who thinks that a no-name promoter is going to pull off a big luxury event for the first time, in another country and isn't just a little suspicious that things might not be as advertised is naive. I'm not going to say they deserve to have this happen, but I'm not shocked at all, and today's instant gratification culture and OMG I "have" to go to that event attitude make me have very little sympathy for those "suffering". I may even laugh about it, and not feel bad. I guess I'm a bad person.

Clearly this is on the same level as seeing Zepplin or the Who with a full reunion including dead members.

If they can't provide me with the name of my personal manservant for the concert I'm not giving them my credit card number

On the other hand, feigning empathy is fantastic when one wants to show off how smug and superior one is on a hockey forum. amirite?

And, really. What did your link to that guy's twitter account really demonstrate? That things aren't that bad and most of these people will end up "finessing [their] way into a free day in the Bahamas".

I'd never even considered what the name was about. Is he free of Pepsi? Was it an addiction issue that he's now overcome? Is there a support group for recovering Pepsiholics?

I suppose nobody likes to hear people pick apart the generation you are associated with. It's a good lesson we all could learn.
