Don't like this at all for Toronto.

For me to vote no, it has to be completely lopsided. Seems OK to me, I vote yes.

That's not what the CPHL ratings say.

The Leafs have a mighty challenge this off-season to fill out a roster with no cap space while not dealing away their most valuable assets.
So the fact there is some cap space included helps.
The Leafs overall are incredibly thin asset wise so I do think they can't afford to lose many deals. I would feel better about this deal if it was Connolly+2nd rounder so that then the Leafs have both the cap space and an asset (the 2nd) to go out and add another roster player - which is what they need to do
That type of tweak pushes it over the line and seems reasonable.

Dekyser had an off-year but typically puts up solid numbers and is good defensively (hence why he signed a 30M NHL contract). His value as an asset in the league is much greater.

At first look, it doesnt look too bad. if you look at the contracts, theres only a 1.5 mil difference so the cap space received is next to none. I do agree with the current people saying its lopsided. you can probably get a fair bit better.

something else haha

seems fine. Like MJK said, it isnt lopsided enough to deny. Some people need to learn and be allowed to make bad deals.
We have declined deals that look bad at first but turned out they would have won. Not saying this deal is one of those but it certainly isnt going to ruin the Leafs.

That's one approach - to focus only on the CPHL ratings, but value can also be based on age, NHL performance, and upside.
The purpose of having the league review the deals is to not allow the past environment where veteran GMs took advantage of new ones and slowly eroded the asset bases of teams that turned over.
Though I wouldn't say that this is an example of a GM taking advantage, but moreso that the deal isn't particularly even.
Anyways the league will decide. The great thing is that the decision isn't concentrated in a small group anymore.

Always interesting dialog,
From my perspective, Dekyser was not viewed as a top 4 dman. Never would have guessed that...
He plays on a rebuilding NHL club, if he were on the Flames he would be a #5 dman.
Brett Connolly if he were a Flame would be tied for 5th for goal scoring looking at last years stats.
Would be happy to add more to the deal to make sure its even.

Deal for me was all about getting some cap space free (again) and filling a spot at LW.
If it gets voted down, maybe we can try again with an extra asset involved, flambers.

Don't think this is remotely large enough a deal to overturn regardless of who may come out on top.
Honestly I don't think many people would be lining up for either of these guys for anything more than low level depth.
Teams need to be able to make poor deals, even new gms

Will let it run a little longer but with the vote 13-10, looks like it will be a no.

I'll close this out at midnight tonight. Right now count is 13-10 as one of the yes is one of the GMs involved.
14 basically means it is a no- so we are one vote from that.
Sounds like the deal could be tweaked and go through though.

New deal has already been offered (and accepted, pending rejection) of Connolly and a 2nd for DeKeyser. Do we have to go through the whole approval thing again? Would like to get it done before UFA deadline tomorrow night.

I think given the closeness of the vote we can assume approval
