It would be awesome if it was Radulov but I don't think the team can afford to go longer than 2 years. Maybe that works for Marleau who I also think would be a great fit with any of our top 3 centers.

Marleau-Bennett-Foo could actually be an elite third line. Marleau can still skate.

I hope it was a free agent that could be a fit for that top line, or at least on the right side.
Also wouldn't hurt if the FA that called is a decent depth defenseman option. I'm guessing probably a forward.
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was Iggy somehow either. Seems like a move he would make given the familiarity and his current situation.
I effing love that the Flames are getting this kind of attention and players like this and Foo are seeing that they have a legitimate chance to compete in the coming seasons with the way Brad has put the team together.

I really feel like last year's playoffs was the one opportunity to bring back Iggy. I honestly think that he would have been able to help. It would have given the team and city an emotional boost.
The fact that it would have been a quick sprint and not a full season would have helped. Iggy might not have been as good as he once was but maybe for one last playoff run in the spring he could have been as good once as he ever was?

Not sure if connected, but...
FLAMES EXPRESS INTEREST IN MARLEAU
Dennis Bernstein is quite connected with San Jose

Depends on the term. A couple of years would be fine. Anything more could be awful

Dude. Yes. Hamonic got a lot of fans amped up, Marleau coming to CGY would have the same effect for me.

Would love to sign Marleau. He still has the legs to be useful.

What would Marleau expect these days anyway?
We would need Brouwer, Stajan or Bouma on their way out IMO. Would like to see guys like Jankowski and Hathaway on the roster this year.

Marleau would be a nice fit. A good vet presence. But I might be a bit biased. One of my favourite hockey cards from my childhood is a "back to the future" card with Marleau on one side and Selanne on the other. It was the first numbered card I ever owned. You can cross post this to the HHOF thread, as to why I am also excited for Selanne getting into the hall of fame.

Marleau would be nice.
But is there a fit for another LW? Can Tkachuk play well on his off-wing?

For a guy who is now 37 - Marleau has been a bit of an iron man the last four years playing all 82 season games each year. Has been basically a 50 point player the past few years (also a plus player last year in 2016/17).
If the price is right (and short term), come on down.

I think Tkachuk can, or potentially Gaudreau.

Huge grain of salt with this one, but here you go.

The Calgary Flames are among the teams interested in signing pending unrestricted free agent forward Patrick Marleau.
Marleau, 37, is coming off a three-year, $20 million contract and is believed to be looking for another three-year deal.
The Flames aren't alone in their pursuit, though, as the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers are among the teams also in them mix.

Always liked Sharp. If he's healthy, I'd be on board with bringing him in for sure as well.

Are Thornton and Marleau actually going to leave San Jose?
I have a hard time picturing it. They both could have left already if they wanted.
If they really wanted to chase a Cup they could both sign in Pittsburgh who has tonnes of cap space.
What a scary team that would be.
I just don't see why they would leave San Jose to go to most of the listed rumoured teams. Does LA or Dallas have a better shot at a Cup than SJ?
Seems like a lateral move.

Can he play goal? if not it wouldn't have mattered...Pens would have lost in round one with Elliott in net
