Staying at a Winery
Has anyone stayed at a winery / vineyard in BC? I found an article that sounded interesting, but the range of options was huge. I'm looking for a place where you can rent a room / suite for 2 people, not an entire estate for a group.
Somewhere not too isolated. We'd likely want to visit other wineries, restaurants, live music, etc. It would be in July or August.
Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks.

That’s like responding to somebody looking for restaurant recommendations with, “Check out Yelp”.

Filter for 'winery' and price range?

If you have an RV, must be self contained motorhome or trailer, an app called “harvest host” will find you a place for 1 or 2 nights. No camp fees. They hope you will buy a bottle of wine or something.

We been to Burrowing Owls wine room and restaurant in Oliver a few times but haven’t stayed. They have guest rooms, pool, hot tub, etc. Always looked like it could be a good base of operations if you’re touring that area.

Unfortunately we don't have an RV. Looking more for cottages / small hotels.

Troutman's link has some really good options. I haven't stayed at any of the wineries in the BC area but have friends/family that have.
Burrowing Owl down in Osoyoos is the best from what they've said, but it's likely booked every weekend all summer already. Great restaurant and good wine.
Hester Creek has some rooms around Oliver that they've said are good too. Good location to go to wineries in that area and has a restaurant on site.
Therapy Vineyards is nice and new accommodation. Wine is pretty good and some is pretty reasonably priced.
D'Angelo has some nice accommodation. I personally did not enjoy their wine so I've never been back, but to be fair that was 5-10 years ago so hopefully it's improved.
Dirty Laundry winery used to have a guest house to stay in but on a cursory look they might not rent it out anymore. Friends had stayed there years ago and liked it.

Lots of air bnb/ rentals in the area. Some nice ones in oliver/osoyoos area that's probably the highest concentration of good wineries.

We go to Naramata every year, can't pump it up enough. Troutman's list is a great start.
DM if you want to know anything else.

Spirit Ridge in Osoyoos fits your criteria well.
https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/ca...it-ridge/ylwub
It's on the Nk'Mip first nation winery.
They have a tasting room, pool, great restaurant, small gym & nice rooms.
There's shuttle down to the beach and an easy drive out to other Osoyoos wineries, some walkable.
The room we booked was a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen & deck with BBQ.
After a long day of wine tasting, it's nice to be able to just relax by the grill, pop open a bottle you bought and relax.
We stayed here last summer and wine toured around Osoyoos, it was ideal & pricing was reasonable.
Burrowing owl accommodation looks nice too but it's much smaller so not sure if their pricing & availability are difficult. Not sure if they have kitchens either.
The only problem we had was catching fire season & having smoke everywhere; so air quality & views were poor.

We stayed at OK Whistlestop a few summers ago. Right on the Kettle Valley Rail trail and a quick bike ride to Penticton. Great hosts.

Big fans of BC wine and touring the area. We've never stayed at a winery itself but there are so many great options.
Unfortunately it will be interesting to see what the BC wineries do this year - most reports are anticipating a near 100% loss of grapes so there may not be any 2024 vintage.

New BC bans on short term rentals will really hurt the tourism season too. There's really not that many hotels so I'd book something early if I was the OP.

I was thinking of visiting Kelowna this May, but the devastation to the grape crops and especially the Airbnb ban is making me rethink things.

I stayed at Wesbert Winery a couple years ago. They have a B&B they run with only 3 rooms but it was quite nice.
It's on Naramata Bench which is great for wine and relatively close to Penticton for everything else.
If you stay anywhere around there, I recommend getting the Uride app (similar to Uber) as it was a pain getting a cab and Uber/Lyft seem to not be used in that area.
