Season ticket renewals start today. It looks like there is early bird pricing available from Nov 1-15, and if you renew after Nov 15 the prices jump up a little bit, around 3-5% depending on section.

This year the season tickets get you 16 games, while season tickets last year got you 15 games. Speaking to my tickets in section 200, my tickets last year were $366 for 15 games, and my tickets this year are $391.20 for 16 games. It's essentially the same price. So that's good. Not sure how other sections compare but the club says it's the same price.

When I went to renew my season tickets they gave me an option to pay in full, or spread the payments out over 10 months. They are also bringing in an auto renew option at the end of next year, and you had the option to opt out of that before entering payment information for this year's tickets.

I dunno, seems pretty good to me?

Seems like a great deal. I am transferring my season tickets to a friend who can actually make all the games (since he actually lives in Calgary and I don't haha), but I would gladly pay again if I didn't think the seat would go to a true fan. Bonus - Ben Fisk is arranging the season ticket transfer, and at the early bird price. And if I want game day tickets I can just reach out to him. So awesome!

Looks like the early bird prices apply to new season tickets as well. When I picked a new season ticket from the virtual venue it was the same price.

Yeah mine were $391.20 in section 200 as well. Pretty damn good deal for 16 games, $24.50 a game is awesome! Crossing fingers there's lots of renewals and new season ticket holders this year!

Is there supposed to be more games next year? They are claiming that the early bird pricing is “2022 STH Pricing” but they are $60 more for the pair a season…

I think I may be out this season, they’re difficult to move at any price, and it’s flirting with the $1000 price point after you include the parking pass.

Will definitely still buy single game seats, or hope they have a similar summer deal with parking pass like they had this year.

It's the same price per game per ticket. There are 16 games in the ticket package in 2023. There were 15 in the ticket package in 2022.

And it's official. Not my favourite but I much prefer it to Forge or Edmonton.

I would be shocked if there are 9 teams when the ball kicks off in April...

Good article on the FC Edmonton situation. Bluntly, it doesn't look good.

If the claim that the league walked away from a $1 million offer to buy the club is true, the league should have taken that and run...

Quote:
A high-ranking official from another CPL side described FC Edmonton’s inclusion in the Canadian Premier League back in 2019 as a ‘marriage of necessity’ at the time, but overall states that their inclusion was a poor decision from league management as they were ‘predictably not a good league partner’.

...

We had reported that new ownership groups had sniffed around, and we’ve now verified this with multiple sources. It also turns out that more than one group submitted a lowball offer of one million dollars which was reportedly rejected by the league, who had valued the team to the tune of about closer to nine million dollars instead.

A trusted source states tell us that a small number of potential owners all walked away from the Eddies at this valuation, which also came with the large caveat that they’d be saddled with Fath Sports Limited’s existing club-related debts, too. It’s unclear what this amount totals, but some numbers run as high as twenty-one to thirty million dollars. We weren’t able to confirm that figure, however.

Wow, the CPL is DUMB for making those kinds of demands. If someone can buy the team at a low entry point, it enables them more funds to build the franchise properly. Does the CPL not see this??

Would it be terrible if they allowed the team to fold, and then then brought in a new entity 2-3 years down the line?

Keep in mind, the guy holding Edmonton hostage is behind those demands as well...

No, that is probably the best way forward. The problem is, the current owner has the rights to any club in Edmonton, and would likely block any attempt at expansion. I don't know what would happen if someone were to launch a club in St. Albert as an example...

The agreement the league did to get Edmonton on board is terrible, but it was one out of necessity as without them there would not be a league. Now that the league have enough clubs without Edmonton, bye bye.

How many teams you reckon don't lose money year over year?

Calgary, Forge, Halifax and Pacific?

How do they not all lose money?

Travel costs are insane. The TV deal must be near nothing. I agree with the sentiment ticket prices need to be lower to draw better, but doing this stuff in Canada is hard. Halifax to Victoria flights are an insane expense to carry. In a denser country this level would be a bus/train league.
