I think that United is in for a rough year and Mourinho is gone by Christmas. I don't know what to think about Arsenal/Chelsea. I think they're good enough to be in the top six, but it's hard to say at the same time. It really easy City and 4-5 teams, Everton and then the rest. I know Liverpool might have strengthened, but I don't really buy the "only legitimate challengers to City" kind of moniker they've been given. They were 4th last year, and I'm not entirely sure they deserved to be any higher than that.

No, there were a few others, and I actually remember this being brought up as a concern a few years back during the Brexit debate.

Then why wasn't it a concern for the other 19 teams? Just man up and say "Sorry, we're broke for a few years because the stadium went way over budget".

Hey, I already dumped on them for this. This screamed of typical Levy tactic of trying to scrimp by waiting until the last minute and then having it blow up in his face.

Maybe there is more to this though? When you look at the clubs who were normally more active and this time didn't accomplish as much it seems to be more than just Spurs. United couldn't close on a CB and yeah they did some business, but nothing in comparison to their spending power. While it's easy to point at Tottenham and say that Levy was too cheap or whatever, it's hard to say that about United.

I don't know, and maybe it's purely anecdotal, but it seemed like a less active window in general. Could be the world cup positioning, early closure as opposed to the rest of Europe, Brexit or the prices are just insane. Maybe all of these and then some "club factors" thrown in.

I don't think it's been as good a summer as people think though. They signed a bunch of players, but most of them have had their best days. Combine that with the idea that they likely need some time to acclimate and I think they're in the lower half. I don't think they're getting relegated (sadly!), but they're not good enough to challenge for the top quarter of the table.

So United is giving Perreira a shot in midfield.
He's looked good the last two summers, so I'm looking forward to seeing him play today.
Hopeful he does well, and is kept on the squad permanently.

I think that United's lack of movement is effectively an indictment of their confidence in Mourinho more than anything else.

Spurs I felt are just more confident that they have a decent squad that can compete as is, a little more experience and no really glaring holes to fill. If Alderweireld had left that story would likely have been somewhat different.

Am I reading that right?

United's starting back 4 is:

Darmian - Lindelof - Bailly - Shaw

The other 19 squads arent building a new stadium?

Brexit has added to the cost of materials in the UK already, how does he need to man up?

It should be noted that as of this moment Arsenal are listed as 1st in the table.

For all the talk of everton having a good window

Marca this morning says barca should build a monument to everton for the fact that they spent 50 million on digne, mina, and gomes

That shouldn't have been a penalty. Less than 3 minutes into the season, and I wish the PL had VAR already.
