According to RTS-journalist Patrick Andrey, Genève-Servette HC has completed their import-player quartet for the 2018-19 season with North American forwards Tommy Wingels (photo) and Lance Bouma.
Tommy Wingels, 30, suited up in 57 games for the Chicago Blackhawks this past season (seven goals, five assist), before he was traded to the Boston Bruins in late February this year. Overall, the American forward and San Jose Sharks' 2008 Draft pick has an experience of 506 NHL games (64 goals, 87 assists).
As like Wingels, also Canadian forward Lance Bouma played under contract with the Blackhawks in the 2017-18 season (three goals, six assists in 53 games). The 28-year-old was drafted in the third round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames and has an overall experience of 362 NHL games (30 goals, 46 assists).
With Swedish defensemen Johan Fransson and Henrik Tömmernes, as well as the two North American forwards Tommy Wingels and Lance Bouma, Genève-Servette HC's import-player quartet for the upcoming 2018-19 season is set.

It's a curse - which happens when you play with Sam Bennett. Your NHL career effectively ends a year or two later.
Versteeg
Jagr
Brouwer
Bouma
Granlund
Chiasson
Colborne
Hathaway
Lazar
Jankowski seems to be the only one with immunity from the curse so far.

Just shows you how much Hartley was able to squeeze out of his roster.
Makes you wonder if they kept him aboard how much he could have gotten out of the wasted GG years.

I've always admired guys who make a few million in the NHL and then go over to play in Switzerland for a few more years. That sounds like so much fun.
I never once begrudged Lance for getting as much money as he could after spending the year as everyone's favorite meat shield.

Plus the Flames are still paying him $766,667 this upcoming season not to play for them.

The 2014-15 Flames contractless list:
Bouma
Jones
Colborne
Stajan
Hudler
Raymond
Bollig
Wideman
Smid
Diaz
Potter
Hiller
Ramo
Most of those guys were huge parts of the team in the playoffs. Two-thirds of the best line in Jones and Stajan, a third of the Gaudreau/Monahan line in Hudler, two of the three guys who scored in the one win against Anaheim in Colborne and Bollig, and both goalies. Plus Mr. 56-point dman in Wideman. Crazy how much the team has changed.

Maybe it's a sign Bennett needs better line mates than guys that aren't good enough to play in the league.

Bouma was a valiant foot soldier in 14/15. Good memories of him having the same number of ES goals as Crosby near the end of the season (lol).

I love how you have Granlund playing for the Canucks as having his NHL career ended.

Yup. Either that or a harsh reminder that Bennett really needs to up his own game.

It's hard to soar with the eagles when you're stuck working with turkeys.

Bouma should do okay in Switzerland. And well being a good 'meat shield' is something to be said for, it's now fairly clear that the NHL was simply too much for Bouma's capabilities, skills, and general talent level to handle.
So.....smell ya later.

Best of luck to ya, Boums. He was the originator of what I refer as Bouma-itis; gets a chance in the show and gives it 100% physically every single night, which really isn't sustainable. Eventually he gets complacent in his role as a regular and begins to regress a little. I believe it's the same thing that's happened to Hathaway recently.
With a strong showing overseas, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lance back in a depth role next year for a weaker team.

Yep, that's the thing right there.
It just isn't possible to give 100% balls to the walls all the time because you will wear out real quick. But if you have basically nothing else to offer other than that, then you are really just not good enough to last in the NHL.
