Default Oilers and Panthers deals

The Oilers and the Panthers have made 2 big deals today, but I'll put them together in one.

Oilers receive
Reilly Smith
Nick Leddy
tons of cap

Panthers receive
Jimmy Vesey
Gustav Forsling
Dante Fabbro
Frederic Allard
2020 1st (pho)

Basically feel like I need to push for the cup this year, and after giving up tons of good pieces to reach the cap floor (couturier, spurgeon, stepan, johns, smith, scandella, abdelkader, calvert, panik, baertschi), now I can use cheese to my advantage and make up for those losses. Losing good young pieces in Fabbro and a 1st suck, as well as players with potential who can already play like Vesey and Forsling, but Smith and Leddy make this team a bonafide contender

Here's what the Oilers look like

Jonathan Marchessault (79) - William Karlsson (80) - Reilly Smith (77)
Anders Lee (74) - Mikael Granlund (76) - Teuvo Teravainen (74)
Jesper Bratt (70) - Eric Haula (74) - Ryan Spooner (72)
Ryan Dzingel (68) - Adrian Kempe (68) - Christian Fischer (69)
Anthony Beauvillier (67) - Tomas Nosek (67) - Anthony Duclair (68)

John Klingberg (76) - Nate Schmidt (74)
Colton Parayko (75) - Nick Leddy (74)
Mike Matheson (73) - Joel Edmundson (72)
Xavier Ouellet (65) - Jake Dotchin (68)

Robin Lehner (84)
Phillipp Grubauer (77)

Loving the look so far, more work to be done (hopefully)

Those are good swaps for both teams I think. Florida has some nice pieces for the future. Oilers get the two best players which means they probably win this deal. Nicely done GMs.

On a side note, that’s a good team that’s been put together in Edmonton. Goaltending might be the only question mark. Good luck this year.

Agreed. I got very lucky Lehner rated an 84 and hopefully that's enough, like when the Flames won with Greiss as their starter. May be on the look for a bit of an upgrade but could live with it for now

Yeah - I take a hit in the short term and give up the best two players but get two really good defense prospects in Fabbro and Allard, a 2020 pick (PHX) with no protections, and Vesey and Forsling can step into the lineup now but are young enough to help for a while.

Plus made a bunch of moves to get younger, add prospects, and gave up cheese for the future today. But that means I’ll have a ton of cap space to work with next offseason and lots of chips to move in trades.

Me too, and they're very good negotiating partners. Great add to the league
