I second Bob Cole. The mans a legend and he’s I think 84 years old now, so if he butchers a guys name or two oh well. Be thankful you get to hear one of the last of a dying breed call a game for you.

I guess I'm weird - if I'm watching CFL/Hockey/MLB - I always mute the broadcast and listen to tunes. I very rarely listen to the PBP - i do like Rick and Kelly so occasionally i will un-mute a Flames game
Jack Edwards in Boston is awesome. I don’t get the hate for the guy. Sure he’s a bit over he too but that’s why I like him.
I totally get it, but he's still awesome. Unfortunately, his colour guy, Andy Brickley, really isn't very good. There are a number of teams like this, where one or the other guy really carries the broadcast - Rick Jeanneret and Rob Ray are pretty decent, but it's mostly on Jeanneret's shoulders (and obviously this is getting close to Bob Cole territory as Jeanneret's not what he used to be). Carolina's broadcast has always been good, but again, that's mostly because of Forslund.
I also echo the earlier statements about Cuthbert / Ferraro, but I also like Miller / Ferraro. Even McLennan is pretty good, though Ferraro is definitely better. TSN in general is such a breath of fresh air when you get to the WJHC and go, "ahhh, there's the good stuff I was missing".
Unfortunately, arguably the best tandem in the league was lost when Dave Strader passed away of cancer a while back. He and Reaugh were fantastic. I think that's probably the best one in recent memory.

I always liked Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond in Detroit. Redmond is similar to the Bruins guys in that he is definitely a partisan. But he brings that sort of authentic emotion to the role. No idea if he would function well in a national broadcast where he had to play it straight. And Daniels was a pretty good straight man to counter the enthusiasm and called a solid game. I used to hear him more on national stuff a few years back, but not as much recently. Though maybe with the Wings missing the playoffs he could get some work from NBC, but no luck so far.
Daniels and Redmond are a pretty polarizing crew. I'm on the side that doesn't like them. Daniels tries way to hard to force his catchphrases into highlights (the words "It's a Datsyukian deke that's a beauty" should never have been uttered once, much less a handful of times) and is sometimes behind the flow of play when it's moving quickly. I find Redmond just sounds like an octogenarian who's generally amazed by everything and usually doesn't add much to the play that isn't obvious to anyone watching, though once in a while he does have an insight.
For example, this is one of Datsyuk's greatest goals and he completely flubbed it as it was happening and then tried to make it about his catchphrases once it was in.

I am a huge fan of Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson when they are not showing a clear bias for the Canucks. His "he scores calls are legendary." I also really like Chris Cuthbert and Gord Miller's PBP.

Not NHL but when I was a kid I really liked Steve Falwell and Howie Anozik(sp) who did Lethbridge Hurricanes games in the 80’s and 90’s. (I actually think Steve did Lethbridge Bronocos games before the Hurricanes but that was before my time.) He reminded me a lot of Peter Mahr and was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to.

I also really like all of these guys, and I agree that Hughson’s over-the-top calls in Canucks games were once really obnoxious. However, his call in the Flames v. Canucks 2015 Game 6 series clincher was absolutely fantastic. Perfectly balanced and perfectly executed.

My favorite play by play guy is Cuthbert. It's too bad he is on TSN where they don't do NHL games.
I have never liked Ferraro. Most guys I can deal with, but not him.or Remenda. There are people who do better than others but I don't like to hate on all the people as it sometimes feels like it is the cool thing to do.
I like Kelly Hrudey for colour.
Probably my favorite of all time, as has already been mentioned, Cole and Neale.
