Is this the NHLRumoursDaily Twitter account?
If so, I thought he was a confirmed BS guy that just makes stuff up or rehashes actual insider info? Seems like your recap is just everything else we've already heard before but I could be wrong.

Yeah everything mentioned in the write up above is just regurgitation of stuff that happened during the summer

That still seems insane to me...there's no way I throw in Mange in there. Dube I care less about but even then, that's quite a haul.
after Zary I tell 'em we'll throw in another pick in 2024 or something and if they squawk I tell them piss off and hang up the phone

To each their own I guess, I remember him being flat out dominant in junior.
Debrincat was a stud too, but they worked well together. Strome was the set up guy, Debrincat the shooter.
Regardless I don’t think McDavid impacted his draft status much.

I don’t see how playing on McDavid’s team couldn’t impact the draft prospects of everyone on the roster.
DeBrincat is a sub-6ft 165lb winger. He was a high second round pick. If he hadn’t been seen by all the people who went to watch McDavid, he probably would’ve been picked later, if at all.
Ditto Strome. You go to watch McDavid, and you see this other big centre with a brother who was a 1st rounder himself, and you think “he must be good too”.
The only reason Marc Antoine Pouliot became a 1st round pick is because he played with Sid in Rimouski.
Junior hockey is strange.

Yeah it is NHLRumorsDaily. He misses more than he hits but he has gotten some things right in the past.
Off the top of my head he got the Ryan Ellis to Philly deal four days before it was announced. Had Caleb Jones for Keith almost two weeks before the deal was made. Hamilton to NJ a week before free agency. Got the ESPN-NHL deal before it was announced. Don't remember if any of those were mentioned by reputable insiders that far ahead.
Seems like he's more dialed into the American markets, never seems to have anything right on Calgary though.

the original ask from Buffalo was 4 top tier assets...
that should be going down, not up considering the number of suitors for him has gone down...

Nah he's actually legit.
He hasn't been 100% right but he's been first on a lot of stuff that nobody else had in the last year.

McDavid wasn’t even on the roster during Debrincat’s draft year. Putting up 51 goals and 101 points in 60 games was probably enough to get him drafted on his own.
Crosby didn’t even play a game with Rimouski until after Pouliot was already drafted so that theory doesn’t add up at all.

True but Monahan/Dube aren't top tier assets

Funny thing is if Edmonton didn't win the lottery for McDavid, they probably would have taken Strome. Imagine the clusterF of a team in that timeline.

I think they would have taken Hanifin. Many had him 3rd overall in that draft.

It is also the Oilers and we know Katz would have made them go with a forward again. Big center like that, would have been the next Messier.

If Strome had started his career playing with Johnny, it wouldn’t be that far fetched to see him being a much more productive player.
When Strome was stapled to Kane, he was actually quite productive.
Not saying that Strome would have been as good as Monny, but the comparison is valid.

Just my weekly reminder that Monahan scored 20 goals before Gaudreau played an NHL game

Nearly a decade ago.
Lucic was a 25 goal, 60 point player at that time.
