Yep. Calgary was able to turn a once in a lifetime career year by their 34 year old goalie into... nothing but a lower draft pick. Terribly wasted opportunity. Tough ####, better hope he doesn't revert back to last years play and back into a cap dump

It would appear to me that New Jersey STILL does not have a goalie. Assets were spent and a solution was not found. Good luck with that!

This is Markstrom's 5th best year in save%. It will be 2nd or 3rd in wins but he was low in those because he played for the Canucks.
Face it - Markstrom is a very consistent goalie with a bad year last year. Just like Vanacek is a very competent goalie who had a bad year this year. Whatever happened to that guy anyway?

Calgary fans: these NJD goalies are specifically the problem, the obvious solution is to trade for a goalie.

It's the only time in his career he's been top 5 in GSAx. It's one of just 2 years he's even been top 15 in GSAx.
He was bad last year.
He was bad in 20-21
He #### the bed in the playoffs in 21-22

Yup.
Clears cap for next year and gives them a chance to see Kahkonen.
Kahkonen has been bad the last two years...but I'd say he still has more upside than Allen.
Personally I think the Devils should have just met the asking price 3 weeks ago, but this makes a lot more sense than trading a 3rd (possible 2nd) for Allen.

Nobody is questioning getting new goalies.
People are questioning burning draft capital to get worse goalies than the goalies they have.
At least this trade cleared cap for them for next year though.

No, instead he traded away a depth defenseman he couldn't afford to part with and replaced his injured goalie with two worse ones, giving his team zero chance of making the dance this year. Dude, we are not upset, we are fn laughing like hell at you! Your GM is a tire fire!

If Tom Fitzgerald was able to acquire such an irreplaceable Dman for a 5th clearly he is excellent.
NJD traded for Miller, got use from him, then sold him for more.

Again, we are not questioning Fitz bringing in two new goalies, we are laughing because he brought in two new goalies they won't make a difference. As a matter of fact I bet both these guys put up worse numbers than Daws.
