Cherish your time with your friends and family, its important, no matter the squabbles and problems if you can.

Give your mother or father a big hug today.

If you have friends or family in the hospital or other situations make sure you set aside the time to go sit with them, its important.

Merry Christmas to all of my CP Friends.

I guess I’ll be the one to say it, but I really do not like Christmas.

I like (US) Thanksgiving, as the weather is usually good, there is plenty of football to watch for the whole weekend, the food is good, there are no expectations, and so on.

But Christmas? Meh.

The weather is usually cold, there are all these obligations and expectations (family, social, or otherwise), the day is boring, the lead-up to it is expensive, and it is rough on those without kids or family. And, to be honest, I don’t get much joy from giving and I hate receiving, so the whole experience is just depressing.

I think the young enjoy Christmas and maybe those with kids or with family that they enjoy being around, but for everyone else, I really don’t get how they like the day, or even the season.

Merry Christmas.

Spent the day with family, but holy is the weather nippy out there.

Stay warm folks and don’t drink and drive.

Well that's certainly one take on Christmas.

Santa was great to me this year, I got this sweater as a present (along with a new PC monitor) and its pretty appropriate for me.

You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna go into a Merry Christmas/Good Cheer thread and s*** all over it. I think that's a grand plan. That's the ticket. Yes.

I always get down a bit after Christmas, when everyone gone home, the place is tidied up and the obligations and expectations are over for another year. Maybe it’s that hollow, unfulfilled desire for something more, but I think it’s actually the emotions associated with realizing I actually do love all these people. I do like entertaining and bull####ting and running around to get things in order. I do like playing stupid games with the family and spilling drinks and getting a headache from all the loud talkers. That’s why I celebrate Christmas I think...if it wasn’t for that one time a year I feel a little pang for family, I could easily convince myself I didn’t care. But I do, and Christmas is that little window into it all.

Merry Christmas CP!

Spent Christmas Day playing with the kids and then making a perfect Beef Wellington with roasted fingerling potatoes and wilted winter green salad, green peppercorn sauce on the side.

Seriously, it was perfection. Everyone had a blast and the food was high end restaurant quality.

Great moments like that don't come along often. It's important to savor them when they do.

I hope you all had some great moments of your own over the holidays.

Merry Christmas!

I didn't think Hockeyilliterate's post was that bad or mean spirited. Some people, a lot even just don't do or celebrate Christmas for various reasons.

Which is a valid point. I am not really fond of Christmas myself. But if that's your general take on the issue, going into a thread that is pro-what you don't like and dumping on it is kinda like...going into the E=NG thread, and praising the Coilers.

I think it’s a difficult time of year for some people especially if you don’t have a great family situation and you’re inundated with news and images of how perfect other people’s celebrations are. I hope that poster is able to find some joy this season.
