McQuaid is a better player, but yeah similar role.
I think the value comes from the fact it would be nice to have a player who could be in the lineup every night and could also punch the living hell out of Evander Kane, because if we meet the Sharks it’s going to be a blood bath.

FWIW Friedman on 960 on Friday said the Flames aren't going to do anything until the figure out the Stone situation.
Looks like Hayes/Zuccarello is going to be plan B.

McQuaid is a lot better than Prout (and Prout has been fine, no question)...and has a boatload of playoff experience.

Yeah, I don't see McQuaid making any sense. He makes more than Prout, shoots the same way, and plays an uncannily similar style.
I could maybe see the Flames going for Jordan Oesterle/Kevin Connauton and Richard Pánik out of Arizona, although, given that they're one point out of a playoff spot, they might not want to sell.

2018/2019 Trade Speculation and Rumors
This might be the funnest trade deadline week I’ve seen since the Olli Jokinen acquisition a decade ago. The quality and quantity of the rentals to go along with how every player seems to be tied to the team is unbelievable. I’m nervous at what we’ll be giving up, but at the same time I can’t keep my eyes away from twitter, tv and etc. Just incredible drama.
