honestly though, I'd love to see the Seattle plant at some point in my life. I want to head down to it next year, but I'm not too sure on it yet.
On a second note, anybody looking at heading out to Abbotsford airshow this coming summer? It's the 50th anniversary, I hope they've got something big planned.
A shot related to the 1989 Abbostford airshow. Two Soviet Mig-29 Fulcrums being intercepted by two USAF F-15's over Alaska as the Mig's were on the way to the show:

Oct. 22, NAVCAN are testing navigational equip at YYC. Watch for aircraft flying over various areas the city. Read more@ www.yyc.com
I wonder if they have been getting more call than usual about the NavCanada RJ flying around the city as they conduct equipment tests?
Here is the article on the airport website:
Quote:
On Saturday, October 22, NAV CANADA will be testing navigational equipment at Calgary International Airport (YYC). The testing requires an aircraft to fly over various areas the city at several angles, elevations and speeds. These flight patterns are unusual and are not seen in daily operations. Please be assured that this type of activity is safe and is required for the continued safe operation of aircraft at the airport.
I never saw it at Abbotsford, but I got to see one fly in Vegas. Also the B2 and F-117. Got up close to all three, pretty cool. always had a soft spot for the Blackbird.
At that same show in Vegas we had 6 aerobatic teams, the Blues, Thunderbirds and Snowbirds, plus Chilean, Japanese, and I think Mexico.
Back in '98 I went to the Air & Sea show on the lakefront in Chicago. They had the Blue Angels, F-117, B2, Apaches and many, many more. They said there were a million people on the waterfront to watch the show, it was awesome.
I'm for a fan of civil aircraft (mostly because I'm weird) but I was at an airshow at YQY last summer, and got to "help" a local news crew with their equipment during a practice flight of a CF-18.
This is from the tarmac taken with my Blackberry (I almost took my dad's Nikon D60 but thought, I'll never get a clear shot from behind a chain link fence! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Nothing wrong with being a fan of the civilian stuff. Just go to an airport in Europe and look at how many "spotters" are hanging out watching the planes come and go (AMS and FRA come to mind). I'd say it has grown over the years here in North America too, but the post 9/11 paranoia has made it a little more difficult.
I'm a spotter and proud of it, I love 'em all. From the little Cessna's to the widebodies and the military stuff too!
