Testing the instrument landing system (ILS) whose 2 components bring pilots in during crappy weather; a localizer antenna at the end of the runway for lateral guidance, and the glideslope antenna abeam the touchdown zone projecting a vertical glidepath at a 3 degree angle. They need to be tested for accuracy at regular intervals, Nav Canada has modded the heck out of this RJ and it has a bunch of test equipment on board. You can see the 17R localizer antenna array when you're driving by on McKnight, it's the orange funky looking "fence" thing.

To be fair, luxury on present day jumbos isn't half bad either. Just much more scarce.

Fort McMurray Airport hit the jackpot Monday with a triple crown of new destinations announced Monday, including non-stop flights connecting the oilsands city and Las Vegas.

Starting June 24, WestJet will fly non-stop twice per week between Las Vegas and Fort McMurray. Scott Clements, president and CEO of Fort McMurray Airport, said Las Vegas is the No. 1 requested destination for residents of the northeastern Alberta city.

“This is a workforce community by and large and they work seven-on and seven-off, four-on, four-off,” Clements said. “The average age is 32 and the average household income is $190,000 a year, so it’s no surprise that when they get some time off and want to let loose a little bit, they head to Vegas.”

Looks like Encore is expanding east with new destinations announced for Ontario.

Now just keep coming, a twice daily YQY-YHZ would be fantastic

I thought he was crazy, but you have to admit, it's some real nice work. So much detail, all the way down to the PTV screens in the seats, even the lamps above the passenger's heads in the First Class seats!

He's even got videos of the cabin and cargo doors opening.

EDIT: The animated GIF that JonDuke posted above is the same guy. Original video of the above GIF is below (2nd video)

Two people were detained after an Air Canada YHZ-YYZ flight for potentially joining the Mile High Club.

FlightAware says the flight was an A320, not a E190 as pictured. No matter, neither have particularly spacious lavs (though I suppose it doesn't say they did it in a lav)

I find most news outlets use a stock photo rather than the actual plane. In one article I think it was a 777 that was pictured.

Yup. It almost worked out though, as the flight is most often an E90. I thought maybe they had looked into it.

Global news said they weren't in a bathroom. Comment on the CBC page from someone claiming to be on that flight said they were doing it right in a seat.

Comments on that page are pretty golden.

And in other news, passengers boarding a flight in Halifax, complained of their seats smelling like poo and latex.

More at 6:00.
