Yea I agree, the way he was skating with stamkos was incredible. The chance of losing an edge when skating too fast and sliding into the boards is really cool.
This team system is going to be a game changer too, improved defensive positioning and AI is much needed. Actually having team systems like the 1-3-1 is going to be awesome and potentially frustraiting.
I hope they put this on youtube, I want to watch it. From the reaction in the tread it sounds like 13 is going to be a big step from 12.
they're claiming 13 is the biggest step forward since 07's implementation of the skill-stick...lofty claim, but with all these changes they're putting into place, they could come together and make one brilliant package.

So since I haven't seen the video, but you have here is my question.
If they do deliver and this is the biggest leap forward since 07 does that make 13 the best hockey game made to date? If it all pans out are we looking at the closest thing to actually playing, gameplay wise?
Hey, all these things sound great...and the trailer looks pretty cool. However, I have to be a pessimist. We've heard a lot of these promises before, especially concerning the AI. And as for the pretty trailer, I remember the one last year and all the cool new things in it. What immediately comes to mind is the moment when a player went to hit another player and ended taking both him and one of his own teammates out. In 8 months of playing NHL 12, that kind of play...hell, even hitting my own player...has yet to happen. They said that the animations were pretty much eliminated, yet almost all of the hits in the game are heavily pre-set animations...and ridiculous ones at that.
EDIT: Same thing goes with the forcefield around the crease. Unless your already in an animation, you will never hit the goalie or enter anywhere close to in the crease.
I know the AI won't be improved significantly, but everything else has the possibility to be innovative and revolutionary. Wait and see, I guess.

From what i've seen in the community day it looks like the AI has actually been improved, they react to the play instead of just going after the puck now.
When they first announced the skating engine it didn't really resonate with me, but watching the stream really leads me to believe it will be massive. Managing gaps and when to turn around will be huge skills in this game it would appear.
edit: interesting... sounds like they can turn goalies to perfect in development mode, so patching glitch goals should be relatively easy through tuner downloads.
edit 2: Oh cool! You can do co-op online gm mode. That's pretty awesome.
this video disappoints me... why? because the last thing i think about when playing is "boy i sure wish i could do more with the skill stick while playing"
i know its obviously not the only thing they will work on, but i just continue to be amazed at how many problems the game has and how they ignore them and add useless features that no one cares about...
Curious if you still think it's a useless feature dobs?
Looks promising...but so did 12 for the most part.
Hopefully Hockey IQ brings the awareness that they promised in 12.
Also hoping they finally fix the decaying Custom Team options. It's really depressing that NHL 06 had similar, if not more, options for team customization than NHL 12.
