Jimenez also gets expensive when the Jays are almost certainly in a rebuild as they have no one signed and no prospects
If he’s any good you prob are trading him anyways , and if not he’s just money when your payroll is 100 million

And just like that Bo is on the market. Guaranteed Atkins leaked this to drum up interest. Personally I believe he’ll be dealt early in the season once he turns it around.

He won’t get dealt early in the season , would be at the deadline
There’s never big trades early in the season

Not surprised, they really need to trade him, fingers crossed they can get their asking price
IMO, they have no chance to resign the guy

I don't trust Shatkins to get anything of value for Bo

You’re probably right. I just figure the guy will show he’s turned it around then they’ll deal him before anything can go wrong. And I hear what others say about not trusting them to get value. They were late to deal Donaldson, and aren’t the best arbiters of selling high. Most ideal situation is they resign him. They’d have to deal Gausman than. I’d be on board with that but I think you get more value with dealing Bo. It real is a shame they couldn’t develop players to prevent this from happening.

There is no reason to trade Bo just to trade him at this point. Set the value high for Bo, basically treat it like last year didn’t happen. If someone meets that value, great, if not wait till the deadline.

I feel like the return in a Bo trade will be a mix of journeyman roster players and B prospects. Bo will go on to win a batting title with his new team.

I honestly can't see any decent player signing here unless it was a massive overpay. Would you trust Shatkins to build a winner?
You can't blame Bo, Vladdy, Soto, Ohtani, Teo, Burnes or any one for not wanting to sign here with the clowns in charge.
The City, the Country are all fine. The Canada thing is overblown. Rogers has money. The problem is Shatkins. Get rid of them!

Trading him is still the right move (that said - words cannot express how badly they have bungled this to get to this point).
However, trading him right now is a mistake. I think there is a very slim chance that his 2025 season is as poor as his 2024, and there is a far greater liklihood that he plays significantly better and improves his value. I think holding until the deadline is the best choice out of the limited choices left

Yeah. He was worth way more last offseason or any time before that when he would have gotten a haul. Now the return would be low so might as well hope he bounces back and you can get good value for him at the deadline. If he has a huge bounceback season I could see a contender paying up for him.

But will the Jays trade Bo and Vlad at the deadline if they are both having good seasons? If they are both having good seasons, coupled with a decent rotation and great defense, chances are the Jays are in the playoffs.
I can't see Rogers sacrificing playoff revenue. They either make both players offers they can't refuse now or they will likely walk for nothing.

Exactly - no chance Jays deal either if they are in the hunt . What would be the point of not just dealing them now then .
The Jays are trying to be active buyers in FA and it isn’t to punt at the deadline if they are in contention

Sadly that is the pickle they put themselves in. Backed right in to a corner.
The only thing that salvages the scenario of Bo & Vlad walking would be a World Series win this year.

So you would have preferred that the Jays already handed these two players mega deals?

Or lose him for nothing, no one is going to pay a high price for a player who had a terrible season.....
Going to be a tough situation,
Jays really screwed this up imo

Its starting to feel like this offseason is going to be a nightmare. With the homegrown talent poised to leave or be traded, the Jays in on every stop gap aging vet who will be overpaid. And rumours of being trade partners for players like Josh Naylor. This very much could be the beginning of yet another dark period for this organization. But hey, at least we have Andres Jimenez to join a long line of defense first middle infielders the Jays have had over the years.

I would prefer that they trade them, but Bo isn't going to be worth anything after a disastrous 0.3 WAR season combined with his risky profile.
They could probably get a solid return right now for Vlad because he thankfully had a strong second half last year.
But either way, signing these two to mega deals would be very risky given their lack of consistency.
