Yep, now they can move on to spending tens of millions on 2 or 3 aging, mediocre players to run it back with what hasn't worked in previous years.

Good. Happy they didn’t go there. I imagine the Mets will be hearing it from yankee fans. I’ll be surprised for ages to see that money given to him.

That's wild. Good for him. But I in no way see how he is worth 51 million a year. Glad the Jays didn't chase that contract.

Well, let's see the dominoes fall now. Yanks will reload. Bosox lost O'Neill so they'll be looking. Dodgers too. All for the same bats that the Jays want.

Bregman fills a huge hole at 3B
Santander or Teo fill a huge hole in corner OF
Burnes or Fried fill a huge hole in the rotation

Hopefully get one or two of them and then get to work on the bullpen

Predictions -

Yankees sign Burnes and Bregman

Sox the Japanese Pitcher

Jays Fried and trade for Arenado

Mets resign Alonso

Dodgers just signed Conforto and still want to resign Teo . I think they are done with the big signings (relatively speaking)

Yeah the Sox and Yanks now have money to burn and will be sour after missing Soto

Jays will be in tough to land anyone of significance IMO

Sure you want to sign an already declining Bregman to 7 years/$200 million? Because that's what it will take for the Jays IMO.

Better than watching the mish mash of mediocre 3B's they had last year.

Apparently escalators that can take it to 800, no deferrals, opt out after 5, 75 million signing bonus.

It's like Mets said to Boras, write out the most outlandish, ridiculous contract no one would ever give, and we'll sign it.

Soto turned down $440 million and ended up with another $325 million more. Gotta be the best bet on yourself ever.

Than goodness he chose the Mets though. Best case scenario since he was never coming to TO and it'd suck if he stayed in pin stripes or went to the Red Sox.
