Not sure how reliable this guy is but he's saying the Mets are offering over 730 million for 15 years.

Almost $50M per year? Hard pass. Easy decision. Bow out and let someone else hold that bag. Soto is not a miracle worker.

Yep, pass. Use that cash and sign 2 or 3 really good players instead.

I don’t think those secondary guys are getting term or dollar value anywhere near that. So an extra year or an extra million could turn them. For the Jays it makes more sense to go for two guys. I know some will disagree but there are too many holes to plug. Soto is better than them, no doubt. But he’s not better than two of them when the Jays have mediocrity in the lineup currently as your everyday starters.

They won't spend near 700. It's like shohei round 2
Sign the big star or next to nothing.

We need impact bats not just any bat.
Plus it's difficult because tough to lure them to Toronto.

Again, Soto is tracking like a hall of fame bat and he's still just 26.

That contract will definitely hurt 10+ years down the road, but I still happily take him on the Jays for that price.

Besides, there is no guarantee any of those other FA's will sign in TO, and all of their contracts will end up being shiiiiitty at the tail in end too.

The other thing, is having a player like that will help in the recruitment of other players....including convincing Vladdy to stay put.

Too bad it ain't happening IMO

Sad that 7 years $182m seems small compared to the numbers that Soto might get.

Didn’t think Adames would get that much. Glad they didn’t give into that length.

Rumours swirling that the Mets and Yankees offers for Soto is in the 710-730 range now?! Holy smokes. No thanks.

I’m sure the Soto rumor is the future value of the contract. It irritates me that those were the numbers always used to describe the Ohtani contract.
