Default Flames Playoff Schedule

It looks like we have one date confirmed. There will be a Flames playoff game on Saturday April 13th. They moved a Roughnecks game to accommodate it. Email received from the Roughnecks says:

Please be advised that due to the National Hockey League’s 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule, the Saturday, April 13 Calgary Roughnecks game versus the Georgia Swarm has been rescheduled to Friday, April 12 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Just thought I'd share for anybody else who would want to know.

I heard them talking on 960 a couple of days again that it was looking like it was going to be the 11th and 13th for the first 2 Flames home games.

This article is front page of the sports section in this weekend's Globe and Mail. With the Leafs struggling as of late and Habs on the bubble on even getting into the playoffs, and the Jets...well who cares about the Jets - I expect the Flames will quickly become Canada's team!

They are more than Canada’s best hockey team and the most surprising story in the NHL. The Calgary Flames are a rousing tonic for concerns over Alberta’s lethargic economy and the uncertainty of a coming election.
Bars are full. The Scotiabank Saddledome throbs with excitement. The struggling Oilers have opened the door for passion to rise for Calgary’s overachievers across a weary province.

“It is the first thing in a long time that people here are dedicated to,” McKee says. “We haven’t had a lot of fun in Calgary with what has been going on.
“The city hit a rough patch, but the Flames are a unifying factor. They create excitement and something people can rally around. It’s a harmonizing love.”

Quote:
After practice one day this week, Johnny Gaudreau stopped to sign autographs through the window of his SUV as he left the players’ parking lot.
After a few minutes, he began to pull away, and then suddenly hit his brakes and backed up.
“I looked in my rear-view mirror and realized I forgot a kid and came back so I could sign his ball cap,” says Gaudreau, one of the team’s biggest stars. “The fans here have been amazing to me.”

Never know, could still be the Wed the 10th and then the 13th. First two rounds especially never are as simple as every second night. But Saturday night feels right.

Though having game 1 and 2 at home is relatively foreign...only 1 time in the last 8 playoff appearances/12 playoff series/23 years (ANA in 2006) have we had home ice advantage.

They probably also don't want to have a game coincide with the elections date. If they are doing a game every alternate day, makes sense to have it on 11th, 13th, 15th and 17th as the first four.

NBA playoffs start on April 13th and the Nuggets are hosting two home games. If it ends up being the Avalanche, I could see it being:

April 11th - Avalanche @ Flames Game 1
April 13th - Avalanche @ Flames Game 2 & Nuggets host (G1)
April 15th - Flames @ Avalanche Game 3
April 16th - Nuggets host (G2)
April 17th - Flames @ Avalanche Game 4
April 19th (Good Friday) - Avalanche @ Flames Game 5

Colorado, Boston & Toronto will have to coordinate their NHL & NBA playoff schedules. Don't think any other teams are in that situation.

Seems odd the Calgary would change the Roughnecks game from Saturday unless they wanted the Flames to play on Thursday.

Game 3 against the Ducks in 2015 was played on the provincial Election Day.

The NY Islanders and Brooklyn Nets will be doing that if the Isles make it to the 2nd round. The Isles will play round 1 in the Coliseum and then Barclay's Centre where the Nets play all their home games. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jerrybe.../#7def000d7013

That's if the Nuggets get home floor advantage, they can still fall to 5th place in the western conf and start on the road.

Flames added events to Facebook saying the first 2 home games are Wed and Thur?
Back to back? That doesn’t seem right does it?

Those are just placeholder dates. GMBT pretty much confirmed on the radio today that it is Thursday Saturday

Someone is drunk, they listed the 3rd home game as the Friday, pretty sure they aren’t playing three days in a row at home lol
