Would be cool if Bennett was worth that much

If he had scored 21 goals as opposed to 7 so far then maybe.

yeah, it'd be cool if Bennett had 22 goals last year and 21 already this year

The hell?

Basically two 1st rounders for a 28 year old with a career high of 36 points?

This will be a late round first more than likely, a lot of GMs/Scouts roll the dice at those spots. To me, Foote is the centre piece. A great prospect but TB is locked up on the wing for a few years. He was expendable to them.

It's a time will tell kinda deal. Both teams could be winners at the end of the day.

If I were a Lightning fan I would hate this trade. But I understand why they did it.

JT Miller for Blake Coleman? The salary cap sucks when you're a cup contender.

When Blake Coleman was Sam Bennett's age he had zero NHL goals and wouldn't play in the league for 2 more years, so.....

Default Devils trade Blake Coleman to Tampa for 2020 1st (VAN) and Nolan Foote

Sorry, my post was supposed to be sarcastic. Pretty depressing the highest draft pick in franchise history doesn’t even hold the same value as Blake ####ing Coleman

We should probably just keep playing him at centre with NHL talent and see what happens.

Does Tampa need more offense? Seems like a very steep price for a good, but wrong piece

Good trade for both teams. Poor Sam, if he would have scored 5 goals last night we would have only lost by one goal and there would probably be slightly less people ####ting on him.

Miller wasn't a great fit in Tampa Bay, though. Swapping Miller for Coleman kind of feels slightly reminiscent of the Lucic/Neal swap, honestly. Vancouver got a more expensive scorer with more production who bolstered their top-six while Tampa gets a cheaper guy more suited to a scrappy depth role and who can still produce in more limited minutes.

What are we trading to acquire NHL talent?

Maybe if he scored 20 goals and got over 40 pts in a season he wouldn’t get #### on

I haven't watched enough of the Devils to really know how he's been since getting drafted and stat lines can only tell you so much. Two 1sts is a steep price to pay though, so he better be a hell of a player!

I know zip about Coleman. What makes him worth an upcoming 1st and a recent 1st? Seems like a big over payment to me.

Late round but not super late. 18-21 probably. Devils will probably have three picks in the top 20 which is pretty solid. If Canucks miss the playoffs, the pick shifts to 2021.

That’s a stretch. Miller wasn’t traded for Coleman. Coleman is 28, scoring 21 goals this year making 1.8 for this year and next. Miller is 26, scored 13 for before getting traded and is making 5.25 for this and the next three years.

What’s there to compare to Lucic/Neal swap?

I think given the price the Lightning could have got a better player than Coleman but with his cap hit being under 2 million that was probably the deal maker for Tampa.

Coleman is really fast and has good hands. He's good in the corners and is pretty strong on the puck. He has a good shot and is pretty resilient and durable. He took longer to break into the league than most players but that could be partially because he played four years of college at Miami. He's from Texas and he drinks pickle juice on the bench (true story).

His speed will probably keep him effective until his mid-30s unless he runs into injury troubles. I like this a lot for Tampa.
