My 15yr old took the dog out for their nightly walk and instead of the usual 30min walk. They were gone for over an hour. He gets home and I ask him "how many did you catch?" He just smiles and says 5.
If this game is getting kids out and doing something fun and non-destructive, what is the harm?

So my niece wanted me to take her out and show her some good places from my Ingress days, and we found a couple clusters of stops that people were luring constantly.
I started playing at about 7pm, got home after 10. Caught 89 Pokeman, have 9 eggs and hit level 7. I tried to hit some Gyms, but I kept getting destroyed, so obviously I need to read up on how combat works, or just get some better guys.

The only real harm I see is training kids (and adults) to focus even more on their phones when they are walking about instead of the world around them.
|

My young kids love it. We were out walking around for an hour catching them. Met people from about 12-50 also out around the neighbourhood. What's also neat is that the Pokestops have need tidbits of info about the area. It would be cool if people could add info to them Wikipedia style to increase the history of the stops.
Now strategy question, Just got to level 5. Should I join the team that controls most of the gyms in my area or join a different gym.

Better outside and running running around, playing in part on phone, than not outside at all.

Sure. I'm not bashing the game, merely commenting on the biggest 'harm' that I can see with this game and the ones that will follow. Our society is already incredibly inattentive because of cell phone culture.
