Bob McKenzie was on NHL Network Radio earlier in the week and was saying his sense from the BOG wants less review, not more.
It will be interesting to see if this changes things.

Reduce getting offsides technically correct.
That is, taking 5 minutes splitting hairs to see if a skate touched the line on the way over, let real time dictate
But egregious hand pass directly leading to game winner? Get it right
They changed the skate in the crease rule after they blew it.
Why wait fur a blown call to institute technicalities
Make it right.
If they got the call right, would SJ really object? Karlsson didn’t even really celebrate

I think there's a difference between reviewing everything under a microscope and having someone quickly overturning blatantly wrong calls. People watching the game at home knew that was a hand pass within 5 seconds, why can't someone tell the refs that?

They already have the war room watching the game. They will call down iin a situation where the puck goes in but the refs miss it and play is still going on. The war room HAD to know while the refs were having their conference that it was a clear hand pass and they just let it go. Looks NBA-level bad on the league.

i think a lot of the problem is the 'put the whistles away'. They see an infraction but decide to let it go because play offs or one team has a lead etc, now it leads to a goal but they cant go back and its a blown call.
If they just called the game as they see it rather than trying "not" to influence the game they'd make less dumb calls

All these talks on 'missed calls' had me thinking - would it be ok with you if it was our Flames instead of the Sharks that are getting the calls? Would you be ok with it because it's favouring the Flames or would you be bitter as well like most you guys are now re: Karlsson's OT goal?

they can't just make hand pass a reviewable play at the end of one game in the season.. if they overturned this goal it would of been against the current set of NHL rules.

Doesnt the CFL have an official in the press box watching for technical issues; spot of the ball, time clock infractions etc. already? In addition to their replay reviews.

Yes.
I would also be ok if it were against the Flames.
This is how the league is run. These plays are not reviewable.

The Flames?
If they used a foot wedge to knock the ball in the hole, I’d look the other way

Exactly. Some people are using anything as an excuse to crap on the Flames. Over and over.

Oh I get that but Id bet money the war room really really really wanted to call them and tell them.
Either way, it looks horrible on the league.

The NHL could use a goal judge. An individual who sits behind the net that the ref could consult about goals or the puck hitting the net. Give the goal judge a light that they can flick on to signal to the ref that they saw something.

No one is arguing what you think they are arguing. We are talking about what should happen in the future, not not what they could have done this time (but didn't).

There used to be a goal judge. He was removed for a $200 seat.

Funny, but of course, those guys couldn't call a hand pass.

@nhl you have to figure out how to get the right calls. It’s the Stanley Cup playoffs. You have video. Take the 20secs you need and make the correct call. It was a great game and shouldn’t have been decided by a miscall. Every goal should be reviewed so they get the right call

MSL has spoken. Flames fans are having a field day reminding him of 2004.
