Except when they were talking about Ovechin, they were talking about winning a Stanley Cup.
He won a round in his second playoff appearance, his 4 year in the league and had advanced 6 times out of 10 appearances prior to last year's Stanley Cup run.

Hertl again. That Feaster 2012 draft trade looks worse every day.
He trades down from from 14 to 21 and then Wilson, Hertl, Teräväinen, and Vasilevskiy go 16 to 19.

This is how the flames needed to play mackinnon- rough him up a bit like the sharks did tonight. Do that and then cue the Mackinnon hissy fit- slamming box doors, annoyed at his teammates. Elite player- but kid needs to grow up. Things don’t go well and he takes his ball and goes home. Remember him falling off the bench when the flames beat them in the reg season?

Nah. Vegas had three opportunities to finish off San Jose and couldn’t. And even if the major was a bad call who the hell gives up 4 goals on one penalty kill?
San Jose 100% deserves to be in the second round.

Vegas could have had a similar meltdown and Sharks a boost from the injury, without any penalty, or just a two-minute penalty.
We can't see into the alternate timeline from where we are.

That draft has Weisbrod's fingerprints all over it as he's the one that scouted Jankowski. I believe after that draft the organization lessened his influence on future drafts.

They really don't. It matters not if the Knights give up 4 or 10 goals on the five minute major, it's a game changing penalty call that should not have happened and if the Sharks 100% deserve to be in the 2nd round you have to say the same of that officiating crew but they aren't not and that's because it was acknowledged by the NHL they messed up big time.

the draft is a crapshoot, though at the time i was pretty upset about it... Janko has turned out to be ok, an actual NHLer, when i thought he wouldn't make it...
though i'd take any one of those guys at forward over Janko and everyone but johnny, monny, tkachuk and lindholm
He certainly isn't even close to being "the best player in that draft" however...

You can understand why the Flames took Janko - based on the tremendous physical attributes. He just doesn't have the personality to match it. Tough to project that so many years ago.
The real bad pick was how they used the extra 2nd to draft an under-sized but physical dman in Sieloff...though there's not a ton of impact in the picks that immediate follow.

Both are true Vegas failed to close the deal and epic failed on trying to kill off the major penalty. But that penalty should have never been called if it wasn't Vegas would very likely be in the 2nd round.

Well we ended up with super Sophomore 24 year old Mark Jankowski and Pat Sieloff who is best known for ending Clark MacArthurs career in practice.
With Weisbroad in Vancouver I wonder if he still values him highly?
Jankowski+26th pick for 10th pick

@EricFrancis
Joe Pavelski just revealed he had 8 staples in head: "Getting into the training room and kind of sitting there & getting the first staple in the head was when the first goal horn went off. By the time the fourth staple was going in it was going off again. It was like, 'cool.'"

Pavelski: “Was it a five minute penalty? No. Am I glad they called it that way. Yes.”
