How is everyone dealing with their finances in this economy?

If there's one thing I'm sick of it's people talking about all the things you could/should cut to save money.

Yeah, there's absolutely some good advice in there, and a lot of people make a lot of wasteful spending decisions these days. But you know what, if you work a decent full time job, you should be able to afford Netflix and the occasional meal out.

The craziest thing for young people of that many are likely paying rent, which is absolutely out of control.

I have a second kid on the way, which likely means two sets of daycare. Not looking forward to that at all. I need to refinance my mortgage in about two years as well from 1.59%, to whatever insanity it'll be then. Hate the idea, but I'm likely refinancing and starting the 30 year term over again.

OP stated they bring home $90k a year net and have a $150k mortgage but can't make ends meet. Something doesn't add up there.

Wife and two kids, his frickin grocery bill alone is probably north of 30 000 a year. Plus OP even acknowledges that most people have it even worse than that

Again, yeah you could sit there and talk about potential savings but I'll reiterate, if you work a decent full time job you shouldn't have to live like you're on EI. Yeah, we'd all have a lot more cash if we only ate KD. I'd also want to call it a day and off myself at that point.

Scumbag move to look only at your own situation and think 'this is fine.' Myself and my wife are doing okay right now too, but I'm still pissed at the way things are going, and our exit strategy is in full effect now. Canada is broken, there's no more bootstraps to pull up

Do you have kids and a spouse?

Grocery prices are crazy and feeding 3 extra mouths right now is a lot more than it was 3 years ago. Especially if you want to attempt to eat healthier.

Where did I say I couldn't make ends meet? I said it feels like I am working to stay afloat and do save money and was just curious how other people are surviving.

I definitely make ends meet and go on big family vacations every year.

I know other families don't even have a 90k income and I know how hard it is with making decent money and having a low mortgage.
