My series with silentsim went 9-something, 7-something, 5-something...if I'd played him about a half dozen more times, I bet I could have gotten it down to 3-something (but still lost..)

I had him in a 1-1 tie until my boss starting bugging me at home when i was "working" the other day. You can beat guys who do that.

It is frustrating, but the way I see it, they are better at that part of the game than me. I start doing that and get penalties, what can you do?

Please note the last part, while it is frustrating, I have no problem with it, just have to figure out a way to beat that style of play.

The ideas to ban aggressive use of poke checking and sticky lifting takes away from the whole point of it being in the game. If your having trouble against it, you have to protect the puck better. Keep your stick and puck away from the defender position. You gotta deal with what the game gives you to deal with.

I agree with the majority here that poke checking and stick lifting are both legitimate defensive maneuvers. You can only really lift the stick if you're very close to the other player so protect the puck or move it around so that you have that space.
