I'm excited for the Chromecast just for the remote, I'm hoping I can buy it separately and use it for the Nvidia Shield since it's the only bluetooth remote I've seen anywhere with a TV input button

Yeah that chromecast looks great. I use mine regularly but always wish it had a remote.

I'll admit I haven't kept up with phones the last couple years (my Pixel 2 still works really well) so what makes the Pixel 5 meh? A glance at the google page on the phone makes it look good. Is it the lack of "sexy" new features?

That's just my personal opinion based on my usage. It's meh to me because it's not a huge upgrade, but what phone is these days? I use a Note 20 Ultra so the Pixel 5 is lacking a little bit but I also paid twice as much to get those "sexy" new features.
For $800 I'd say it's a really good phone. 8 GB is probably enough for most people and it would be nice if they added a telephoto lens but the two it has are guaranteed to be excellent. Battery should be better than the 4. Google needs to extend updates to 4 or 5 years to match Apple though.

The Pixel 5 represents a shift in strategy for Google. They are no longer trying to directly compete with the high-end flagships of Apple or Samsung. Instead this new generation of Pixels are more of a budget option for those who want most of the features a flagship provides.

The thing I dislike the most about the Pixel series is the lack of expandable memory.

I went in on the Pixel 5. As a guy who had always been pixel/nexus, I suddenly took the plunge on the OnePlus 7t a year ago. The 7t is an ok phone, but I've had some serious glitches with it. They are more of an annoyance but enough to make me question my decision. Further, the camera is pretty poor at almost everything imo.
Aside from a bootloader issue on an old nexus, I've never had issues with a Google branded phone. So I'm hoping the Pixel will live up to my needs.

I bought the new Pixel 5 as well. I've been using an essential phone (PH1) that I bought to use "temporarily" a while back. Looking forward to having a new phone with antennas that actually work well. I hope anyways.

The first time I was trying to Google pay with the PH-1.... sooooo annoying
For those who don't know (which is literally everyone), they put the NFC chip on the bottom half of the phone.

Same boat here. Haven't had a Google Phone since the first Nexus, so looking forward to stepping back in the mix.

I was so tempted to try a Samsung out - either the FE and the more expensive Ultra. I still have some PTSD from years ago and the constant bloatware.
I went with the new Pixel despite it having lesser hardware. Being a pixel/nexus user in the past, I enjoy the extra features available to pixel users, Android 11, quick updates and the camera.
Let us know how the S20 FE is after some time. I am interested.

Which pixel did you go with? 4a, 4a 5G, or 5?
How do you like it so far? Care to do a review of sorts? I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Samsung's bloatware is what drove me away from them this spring, it will be a long time before I return

I went with the 5. It's pre-ordered and should ship November 5-6 unless the United States is in ashes. Which would suck, because I really want my phone.

Ive had the Pixel 3XL since it came out and it is still a fantastic phone. There is literally no lag and it still runs like the day I got it. So lovely to have a phone thats not filled with bloatware.

I got a Pixel 4a on the weekend to replace my Essential phone which was suddenly draining the battery extremely quickly. I like it so far, no home button which takes some getting used to. It's fine for my needs. I had the original Nexus 4 as well, so I prefer stock Android phones in general.
