A Brouwer/Stone trade for a late round pick would be good but likely nearly impossible. Would have to retain some of Brouwer's salary.
Cant see BT doing that until sure Andersson ready for 3 RD spot. Also leaves little right shot D depth on the farm.
Frolik trade most likely but later in season when sure Foo Czarnik or other can play 3RW.
Hanifan bridge seems most likely plan for now. Unless Stone or Frolik deal already in place.

4.5MM x 6 for Lindholm. 4.75MM x 6 for Hanifin please. It's time to win!

Anyone here any whispers on a Hanifin deal? It’s been very quite. August is so boring lol.

I really would have thought we'd have heard something shortly after the long weekend.....must be a fairly sizable gap remaining to hammer out considering nearly everything else has been taken care of and the focus is likely entirely on this deal.

This is a tough one to gauge. Gotta think they are trying to go long term otherwise a bridge is pretty straight forward.
I will still go with a 7x 5.35. Betting big on him but if he breaks through in a few years could be a steal.

Yes, I’d think the Flames are trying to get a longer term similar to what they did with Dougie - 6 years. Figuring out a longer term deal would be more complex. A bridge deal probably would be done.
Was hoping for some news after the long weekend but news on this front has been very quiet.

I think that AAV is way too high considering the term and the fact that Treliving is a shrewd negotiator when it comes to his own players. As a 21 year old Hannifin is not actually giving up many UFA years to drive the dollar up so I would be shocked if a 6-7 year deal came in above 5.0M.

I think the fact that we haven't heard anything is a good sign.
If they weren't at least reasonably close to agreeing on a long term deal, I doubt Treliving bothers to buy out Brouwer.
I also think that, with the team going to China, Hanifin will very much want to be on that plane. So that means either get a deal done, or whip up a bridge contract if it isn't going to happen. And since they haven't whipped up a bridge contract, I think that implies that both sides still think a long term deal is a possibility.
And if they were in different counties with their expectations, you would think that we might start to hear rumblings from his agent. But we haven't heard a thing. No public hardball is a good sign, IMO.
For me, that all hints towards a deal getting done before preseason.

If you figure that a bridge deal probably comes in at $3M or less for 2 years, that means a 6 year deal is unlikely to be over $5M.
2 X $3M = $6M
6 X $5M = $30M, meaning the last 4 years would need to be:
4 X $6M
He hasn't earned anything more than that yet, and probably less. I don't even think a 7 year deal comes in at over $5M per.

I hope this is all settled before the pre-season. Everyone should be ready to play from the start. No more excuses in October for the coach or players being new.

Its the early part of August, more then likely that Treliving is spending a bit of time with his family, or fishing, or perfecting a new ultimate pizza recipe for his dad.
I expect that whatever deal we get comes in a week or so before training camp, and we'll all say Treliving you fracking wizard.

If there is one characteristic that all good negotiators share, it is patience.
