Ducks Dallas Eakins named Ducks Head Coach

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Candidates who interviewed for #NHLDucks head coaching job have been informed they’re out. They believe Dallas Eakins is the last man standing. Formal announcement expected sometime this week. #TSN

This is amazing news and couldn't have happened to a more deserving team.

F*** the Ducks.

Does Ryan Getzlaf still use his gold water bottle? He might want to hide it.

Wow. Never thought Rakins would find his way back to an NHL head coaching job. And here we are. Well, more Pacific points up for grabs.

Gentlemen...your mission should you choose to accept it is.....we are going to suck.

We're going to suck long.....we're going to suck hard! We're going to suck on the beaches and we'll suck in the trenches!

I once coached the Edmonton Oilers. Trust me. Losing is something I have perfected. In the world of sucking I treat it as an art form. I am the Picasso of suck!

Read a few interviews and he seems to understand where he went wrong as a coach, and the serving if humble pie did him some good.

With the experience he gained since then, he might be ready. Helps he's not going into a disfunctional team as a rookie head coach.

Won't be the first coach who failed before succeeding.

I suspect it will actually not be the first time a terrible coach continues to be terrible. This outcome seems to me to be much more likely.

Why did it take so long? I have to imagine they were hoping to find a better candidate and ended up settling on Eakins.

So both LA teams now have a former Oiler coach. I like this. Although, I think LA chose the better one.

Going to take the opposite side on here and say Eakins will go on to become the winningest coach of all time.

He is probably a good choice for them.

He had success coaching their young and upcoming players.
