I would be dangling the #### out of this pick if I was Tre. Brodie+26th overall for the best top 6 available.

I wonder how far Podkolzin falls with it being known hes not coming/not interested in coming to NA for a couple of years yet. The talent is too undeniable for him to not be taken. Would i take him at 26 if he slipped all the way down there? Hell yeah. Dont thinknhe falls out of the top 20 though.

Likely not even out of the top 10. Detroit at 6 might be where he lands.

I was just looking at a few Post Lottery 2019 NHL Mock Drafts...

I like this potential scenario (if Flames are going to try to move up)

12. Peyton Krebs
14. Cole Caufield

I’d trade Brodie for any first rounder. Even 31st overall.

Do the Sens have their 2nd rounder? Would they be interested in TJ?

32nd pick for Brodie would be nice

there's a lot of talent in the later part of the 1st this year... i hope and pray calgary uses this pick to replenish their forward skill players... at minimum, the player, be it two-way or offensive player, needs to be a very good skater.

McMichael
Hoglander
Tomasino
Kayilev
Brink

really hoping calgary gets a guy that fits these type of players... Leason and Beecher could also be interesting, but in watching the playoffs, not just calgary/Avs, its become clear to me at least how important skating is in the playoffs.... i am not sure if either of those latter two can be considered as great skaters.

Calgary has no one that can attack a defense and put them on their heels with speed... east/west play can get you 99 pts in the regular season, but you get smothered in the playoffs because you do not get time and space. Calgary's skilled players are not particularly fast...average? sure, but fast? no... maybe lindholm and johnny in a straight line, but not anyone else

Johnny has no explosion/acceleration in small areas, so defensemen will just attack him and smother him because they know he can't get by with explosiveness

This. Flames need some players that can carry the puck and gain the zone. I noticed with the Avs, they had 4 or 5 players that could carry the puck and gain entry into our end effortlessly. I think we should target this skill set in this draft, whether through picks or trades

Given the history of goaltending development I don't think a team should ever use a first round pick on a goaltender. Heck I'd argue they shouldn't use a 2nd round pick on one.

Draft a goalie in the third round every second year and take your chances that one of them emerge.

Dustin Wolf is the guy I want. He's been lights out for Everett.

1/22 of these mock drafts have us selecting Cole Caufield at 26.

Caufield is going to be such a wildcard. Gotta think DeBrincat's success will encourage at least one team to pick him high.

Those draft rankings have his range between 8th-30th.

I see Leason at 26 on a couple of those lists.

Those are all over the place. If any of Caufield, Seider, Kaliyev, or Brink are left on the board by our pick, I'd consider that a win. And I rank them in that order.

Edit: How do I get rid of my "Sent from..." signatute? I've checked all my settings and must be missing it.

i doubt Caufield makes it past the Oilers... Katz loves shiny new toys on offense... not some much on defense though... i think he's a good player, but is a bit risky in the top 10... i doubt he'd fall to Calgary, but i'd snap him up if he did.

i know Seider is a good player, but I honestly see forward as a huge need. Calgary has 4 NHL defense men under 22 in the NHL.

we have zero top prospects that anyone considers a can't miss prospects under 21 at forward except for Tkachuk... Dube? hasn't cracked the roster yet... and everyone one else is not close to the NHL.

in 3 years time, when Johnny's contract is up and the D core is where Johnny is now age wise, who does Calgary have coming up to reload at forward? Tomasino seems to fall right into the range for Calgary, but i'd be thrilled with any of those players

How does the talent shake out in the second round?

Could the Flames swap a late first -rounder for say, an early second-rounder with something else added?

Top half of round 2 is really interesting. Bottom half looks like a clear ledge drop. Then because I haven't dig too deep in this draft, it's a you pick em after that.

Like every single draft though, there'll always be gems down there.

Flames scouting seems to have gotten remarkably better in recent years. Moving a 26th overall for something in the mid-to-late 30s plus perhaps a fourth rounder? Flames are in "fill the cupboard" mode.

Unless someone really interesting drops into their lap at 26th, that'd be the route I'd go.

Caufield just scored a ton at the U18s. He'll go top 10. Maybe top 6.
