The only reason for Peters to want Darling is if he’s trying to get fired already.

Darling is apparently off the sauce again and lost 30 pounds. He had an excellent pre-season.
He'll be the #1 goalie in Carolina as soon as he gets back.

Yes, I heard about Darling having a great pre-season and the Hurricanes are pleasantly surprised with Curtis McElhinney (thus the Darling speculation)
Petr Mrázek is the other new goalie in town.

I found this to be quite an interesting line from Darren. Again, not touting the conspiracy aspect.
@DarrenWHaynes
This is more observation than conspiracy theory, but it certainly hasn’t gone so well for four of the five players who filed for salary arbitration in the off-season:
- Jankowski, scratched twice
- Hathaway, scratched four times
- Rittich, no starts
- Kulak, waived then traded

Jankowski looked bad = scratched.
Hathaway never looks that good = scratched
Rittich is out backup and we're 3 games into the season = no surprise there
Kulak was outperformed by 2 prospects = he gone!

Darling's season was Jonas Hiller bad and before that he's never been a #1 goalie. I'd definitely be shopping him but probably no one wants him

I'm sure Peters will have plenty to say if Treliving thinks about that one.

False.
Peters started Darling 43 games last season.
Darling wouldn't have to be a #1, he and Smith could split the year.

True.
"He came last year to camp, he was out of shape," current Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. "He never got in shape all year."

No to Darling, the Hurricanes just want to get out of his contract.

-Jankowski didn't look bad, just not great. I thought he was one of our better players in game 2, setting Bennett up and driving play through the middle. Maybe he wasn't one of our four best centres, but there are eight other spots on the wing he could have been tried in.
-Hathaway shouldn't even have been qualified TBQH.
-Agreed on Rittich.
-I'm not sure Kulak was truly outperformed apples-to-apples, or that he should have been let go. But that's the decision the org went with and hopefully that works out. I think his arbitration situation actually worked against him although I don't think the Flames were right to offer him a two-way deal while offering guys like Hathaway a one-way. It was absurd given how dependable and solid he was last year.

He was a very good goalie for Chicago the year before, every bit as good as Crawford.
He's the right height and (now) weight for being a goalie, and is very athletic. He'll be given every chance to earn that contract for Carolina.
While he may be very risky to hit his ceiling, he's lights out better than the other two Carolina options if he in fact does he hit that ceiling.

So? I said he came to camp out of shape and uninterested. He did. Struch said false. Regardless of what got Darling to that point, nothing I said was wrong and thats what I took issue with. He was brought to in to be the starter. Ward & Lack gave up what I think was a league high GA. Darling was to be their answer.

FWIW, I think Struch said false to the assertion he wasn't a starter, based on 43 starts.

^ Gotcha. I still think my point(s) stand though. He didn't evolve into their starter but he was brought in to be just that.

I wasn't necessarily disagreeing with you. Other than the fact that he did start he majority of the games.
I just wanted to explain why he was out of shape and had a poor season, and why it might no longer be the case.
Darling isn't being shopped, there is still hope that he can be what they wanted him to be when the traded for him and gave him a 4-year deal. A very good starting goalie.
